Whoa whoa, wait. People love playing carries way more than playing supports. Keep learning supports and get good with crystal maiden, enigma, tidehunter, and earthshaker first. Probably earthshaker and tidehunter first, first.

Found some 8-bit heroes: http://dota2.cyborgmatt.com/6.73icons/miniheroes/

Haven't found 8-bit creeps yet.

Creep pulling can help a bit, but doesn't work in all situations. As a support you still need to be a part of team-fights and get the extra gold and exp awarded from them. This will help out the team. You don't typically want to try to go into a solo-lane as there will likely be another player who needs the farm more than you do. What you want to do is use some of your pushing power to clear some of the lanes either in a safe, warded location, or with another teammate. ES has fissure and ground pound to deal a nice chunk of damage to creeps, and you can more-or-less keep spamming the spell every minute with arcane boots. Basically you should just be picking up leftover. Wards are your primary concern and secondarily a mekansm for team heal, if no one else is building it.

You are most definitely squishy bait for any enemy roaming around, so you shouldn't be far from your other teammates at any point without a TP scroll or two.

Both of the games I played in last night had a carry/ganker Dazzle. Anyone know what's up with this? I have no idea how this makes any sense, or why people would even try it.

Just look up my steam name, Love is Dead and its my two most recent games. They weren't very good players. The last game I played was probably a bit more interesting to watch than the one before it since there were 3 or 4 bad players who left 10 minutes in.

I can't agree with you there. His spells really don't deal that much damage and you are wasting a slot on your team for a more useful hero you could at least try to semi-carry with. He has one sorta-nuke that's better used for healing and pushing than hero attack, and a slow with maybe a bit of damage. His auto-attack is a resounding "meh," and he's squishy as hell. The most effective use of all of his abilities scream support.

Sometimes I think I have a too competitive mindset in this game to play with the majority of the DotA community. It just sort of bothers me when people aren't interested in playing optimally. I mean, I'm sure it would be fun for someone to play a support anti-mage, but it would just piss me off to have someone like that on my team disregard 80% of anti-mage's usefulness.

Not to mention that there are already so few support heroes to begin with. Makes me sad panda to see a desolator on Daz with no meka/wards/courier bought the entire game, which would have vastly improved our team's effectiveness. Too few players realize that getting kills isn't the most important part of winning a DotA match.

And not to say that you can't experiment with different builds. I just think Daz carry/gank is so far from his core that the player is more of a troll than one interested in effective teamwork and winning.

The final thing that bothers me is base-diving after you take out one set of side rax. There's not strategic advantage to doing it. Your sidelane mega-creeps still have to take out the tier 4 towers in order to do any damage to the ancients to finish the game. All you are doing is over-extending and probably wiping for the sake of a few extra kills which don't provide you much strategic advantage. If you take out the set of rax, and the opposing team is retreating, rotate for another set of rax and wait for them to initiate and die again. You'll get the same amount of kills, but now you'll have another set of rax, so even if you do wipe, they're still pretty screwed.

To be honest I think ES/any carry works well. You can't beat 3 long slows in a row with the ability to completely block off a path, except with black hole.

It is my fault, actually. I didn't ward, I didn't hit the black hole, I bought a 2nd meka. I can find a lot of ways to blame myself, I assure you.

I used one for a very limited amount of time during one class I took developing mechanized artwork. I signed up to reddit.com/r/arduino which seems to have a decent community.

Should help you commit those spells to memory faster than just trying to remember them in-game.

Nitpicking:

It's pronounced Row-shun. I know this because one of my oldest friend's name is Roshan.

Apple is out of the picture, lets just get that out there first. You would be overpaying for an under-performing machine, which is what happened to my dad when he purchased his a few months ago. At that point they had not switched to using sandy bridge processors.

Second, why do you want a laptop? Specifically, can you buy a cheaper, smaller and ultimately more portable laptop to suit your office program and internet needs?

It is way cheaper to buy a basic laptop and build your own gaming desktop, or at least purchase one from Dell or the like. Its safer too since you will have a space to backup any data, since laptops are notorious for breaking down.

I've been building computers for a long time now and the only argument I've seen so far for buying a laptop with gaming capability is if you travel a lot and will not be around enough to use your desktop.
