Haha well met Fezbat, welcome to the Doobs community. A lot of us here have no DotA experience but some HoN/LoL time under our belts. The first big leap is learning the new mechanics/items/heroes etc.

Shadow Shaman is a beast I highly recommend you check him out sometime. Hopefully you can get into Mumble and get some games in with us sometime this week! Catch ya' around.

I did a ass-load of research about a year an a half ago when I built mine and Corsair is the way to go for Power Supplies. I'd definitely suggest a modular one as well, especially if your going to have a window.

Dude Lenovo makes hands-down the best products on the planet, we use them exclusively at work and I'm so impressed. I personally have a Lenovo T410 and its the shit. I am in love with the little red dot mouse thing, I like it way better then the touchpad.

I love the lenovo! During college I went through a pair of hp dv6000's. Ran hot enough to melt your thighs.... Corsair looks like the psu for me. Also, any first hand experience with corsair watercoolers? I am considering the H80. My old roomate had the coolermaster 212 big ass fan that did the job, but it was HUGE!

I've just always heard very mixed reviews about those in-line water coolers. If your gonna get fancy go for a whole water-cooling solution with a pump, otherwise just get the big ass fan. I've got something like this guy, the company is awesome and their included thermal paste is on-par with Arctic5 quality so that saves you a purchase.

This board support anything we code into it I just have one thing to say:

While this feature would be an awesome resource to make things more readable, it would make the process transparent, and then when noobs go out into the real world and hear someone talking about BKB, they won't know what that means, which is detrimental to their learning process.

I think what might be better is to add a [item=BKB][/item] just like we can currently do [ user= 1] to get the  binaryatrocity effect. This could make the item a link that when hovered over would pop up item info?

Idk, that would require extra work on the posters part, maybe when you "submit" a post, it checks against a list of common DotA abbreviations, and auto-adds the [item] tag to them, with a checkbox to disable this feature like we can currently disable smilies and auto [br]

Some of these were already present in my Guide compilation post. Gutt3r's guide however is new to me, and is REALLY good stuff! In fact, his entire channel is pretty good. I'm going to add it to the complilation.

Thanks for the awesome post!

Yeah we should be sure to consolidate posts like this over time so we have one sticky-thread with great resources in it.

I think people would get lazy with using the item tags. I was more thinking that if someone types BKB we replace it with BKB (Black King Bar).

If you can put together the code I can make the database of acronyms. Just let me know the format you need them in.

That's why the post would AUTOMATICALLY do this, unless you explicitly tell it NOT to auto-tag item abbreviations. But I see what you're saying, that could be useful as well. It could be a option in your user settings (display Dota acronym definitions? y/n)

Oh okay, I thought you were saying to leave the images completely manual.

Yeah leaving it up to the end-user would be fail because obviously 90% of the time no one would think to do that.

^ Agree with Archoass this is how I build drow
Helm of the Dominator is too good to pass up for the price(1850 gold). Note since frost arrow and lifesteal are orbs lifesteal applies when frost arrow is single cast and frost arrow applies when set to autocast. Shadow blade is fine when using it offensively like one would with an invis rune. But dont use it as a crutch for escape when your positioning is off since most players will use some form of detection to find you. I never build shadow blade because i feel there are better items to spend the money and space on.

Also I dont know when would it be appropriate to build shadow blade since you need surviablity and AGI to keep up with other agi carries. Drow has the lowest AGI gain of any AGI hero (with the exception of Ember spirit and Slark who are not yet in dota 2) because of the fact she gains Bonus AGI from Marksmanship. so she falls behind between levels of her ulti, pulls ahead when she levels marksmanship and then slowly her loses lead until next level of marksmanship

Great guide

Awesome points about Shadow Blade, I guess its something one should really not learn to rely on because it's never going to really be best practice, especially as we all get better. Ugh I gotta stop reading the board at work, it just makes me want to go play Dota lol.

^ replays definately help
One can learn alot from taking the time to review a replay. There have been times when watching replays where I am like WTF am I doing. You will find all kinds of silly mistakes. Use what you find to set goals for your next game

I think it's awesome what a robust replay system we have to work with, especially considering this game is still in closed Beta. You really have the all the necessary tools available to you in-client, self replays and live spectating!

Cool man, where are you from? So far I'm decent with Lich, Lion, and Bloodseeker.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin! I've been meaning to play more Lion he is a lot of fun! Lich is pretty much my go-to support, that ult can change things around pretty quickly.

Swapped out the main-page with something a bit more update friendly! Continue to watch both the front-page and the Points of Requires Attention for site updates. If your interested in possibly adding content to the front-page shoot Alverez or I a PM.

Next project is item/hero pop-ups for keywords on the board, should help with writing guides etc.

Welcome aboard Calys! Glad you found your way to Mumble already, that's where most of the magic happens.

What other games do you enjoy? Care to rattle off some titles? Anything competitive or multiplayer?
