Posted by binaryatrocity There are some special CSS class names you need to know in order to modify your post layout, and it's all tied to your user#. If you hover over your user name to the left side of one of your posts the tooltip will show your user number [e.g. FallenElf86 (71) or binaryatrocity(1)]. Once you've got that number the rest is pretty easy, your post layout consists of "sidebar_#" and "topbar_#". For example, fallenelf86 could do something like this: Header: <style type="text/css">
.topbar71_1
{
background-color:purple!important;
}
.topbar71_2
{
background: gray!important;
text-shadow: 0px 0px 3px white;
padding-left: 8px;
}
.sidebar71
{
background-color:yellow!important;
}
.sidebar71 div.smallFonts
{
border: solid blue;
border-width: 1px!important;
border-radius: 8px;
padding: 6px;
color: #FFFFFF;
text-shadow: 0px 0px 3px black;
}
.mainbar71
{
border-width: 0px!important;
background: #1f1f1f!important;
}
.mainbar71 div.main
{
background: rgba(0,0,0, 0.4);
color: #FFFFFF;
}
</style>
<div class="main"> Footer: </div> Of course this is an insanely obnoxious purple and yellow layout but it clearly shows you how the different parts of your post are separated. Of course there is tons more you can do (change the way the quote/code box looks, all sorts of stuff), if you need help with anything in particular just shoot me a PM. Post Layouts are one thing AcmlmBoard always did right. That username number is actually how you link to a profile as well (like I did to fallenelf86 above and right here) by doing [ user = # ] (without spaces). Have fun! Just a few notes: -Notice TOPBAR is split into _1 and _2, _1 is above your user info, _2 is above the post itself. -SmallFonts = the text area, so in sidebar that effects just the square with your postcount, in mainbar it effects the post text itself -Notice all of the !importants. This overrides the default for that class if it's already declared in the themes CSS, so if you try something and it isn't showing up, try adding that. This made my brain hurt. Then my eyes hurt. Then I started playing around with it and it made me happy and gave me a way to kill time at work today. thanks |

Posted by zap_brannigan456 I had fun last night! My Earth Shaker was pretty horrific, but over-all a great time! I would rate the amount of fun I had on the scale of 1 to drunk, i was....drunk. Last night was super fun. Regarding drunk dota- last night I played 4 games. I lost the first one, won the second and third, then lost the fourth. My drinking went like this: Game 1- No beer Game 2- 2 beers Game 3- 2 beers Game 4- No beer There's a common thread here... |

Posted by binaryatrocity Posted by fallenelf86 This sounds awesome. I keep getting an error message saying I need to be logged in to use the randomizer, but I'm already logged in. That is because I was too lazy to create a test account and PowerLevel 1 is Local Mod not Normal User. Should be all fixed now, give it a go. Sorry ![]() Haha, it works perfectly now! Give this guy a beer. He works too much. |

Man, Big Picture is pretty awesome. I have my comp hooked up to my TV in my living room via a long HDMI cable and USB extender. Unfortunately, the USB hub I purchased didn't come with a power supply (bullshit) so I can't actually keep a controller plugged in. Big Picture made it so I barely need my wireless mouse and keyboard.
Only downside, if you get a steam pop-up, i.e. a key code or something, you need your mouse. I also had a reddit message reminder after I exited a game that also made me switch to mouse and keyboard. All in all though, it's awesome! |

Anyone else making their way through Dark Souls? I'm currently in Anor Londo and have been grinding for a bit (got to the giant blacksmith around lvl 45 and am now about 55). I'm trying to get some upgrades for my sword (Lightening Iato +1) and reinforce my armor (mostly the black knight armor).
Anyone else beat it/working their way through it? |

Posted by zap_brannigan456 I played the shit out of the XBox version. Beat it a few times. Can't remember when i had that much fun. I am not sure if I am going to pick up the PC, or wait for the DLC on the Xbox. I can only assume the community would have a much longer life on the PC. It is and has been my favorite game in a very long time. If you are in Anor Londo, i would suggest the Painted World! Its pretty fun, and there is an invasion in there. I would really recommend playing the game through as a human, it adds alot to the game. I missed alot the first time around because of it. I actually felt pretty under leveled and backtracked to the Undead Asylum for a bit (tried to kill that demon under the floor....didn't work). I found the painted doll and destroyed that world and netted somewhere around 50K souls in the process. I did defeat the invading knight and chose to fight the boss. I think my weapon is woefully under powered though and my shield sucks. I went thief build (first time through) and realized that this was a mistake. I've seen the Xbox version and have the PC version. PC just look amazing with the patch. The updated textures make a huge difference. |

Posted by Alverez Posted by binaryatrocity I am a happy man. Just restarted Steam and the Big Picture option showed up after an update, and I have to say it is really really cool. I use my TV a lot with a remote and controllers and being able to switch between say Worms and Orcs Must Die when I have people over drinking without needing to put down the controller is absolutely awesome. The "first-person" web browser was really cool and easy to use, just seemed to take a while to load Reddit (the ultimate sin). The store seemed really buggy as well but the layout was there so you can see how it would potentially work and I must say I am impressed. Now I can't even say "I'm watching TV and my phone is charging over there" to get out of the latest Steam Sale! And the typing will take a little getting used to but in my one and only message to fallenelf86 I managed to type pretty fast, its a very nice interface. GO CHECK IT OUT. Console kids beware, there is now absolutely nothing better about your weapon of choice lol. Yeah I tried it out as well tonight as was pretty impressed. I really like their controller based keyboard (Xbox live should take notes) and it seemed super smooth. My guess is that they are going to get into movies and tv shows here in the next year. Would be awesome if they added support for media play directly from Steam. If they added that I think I would ditch my XBOX for my tv media device in a heartbeat. It took my buddy 6 months to convince me to finally hook my comp up to my tv. I did it like 2 months ago and haven't touched my xbox since. Having a wireless mouse and keyboard on hand also helps a lot. |

Nice! I have Quaalog's soul, but I'm not sure if I should use it to make Quaalog's Fury. Is that going to be better than my Lightening Iato?

Yeah, I usually run around with 4 or 5 humanity, and my dex is around 26-27 and Fury (screw spelling) gives a B dex buff. I'm thinking of going that route, since I think fire will work out better than lightening (at least against the Anor Londo boss) and the Lightening cancels the dex buff of the iato.

Posted by zap_brannigan456 So...I noticed the Dota University section off of the main page....Is there any interest in updating that? Or was anyone planning on it? I specifically went there to learn more about Warding, because i literally know nothing about it. I saw it was on the list to-do, but I was not sure if getting that section up and running was still in the works? Just curious. With regards to warding, I should be on for a bit tonight if you wanted me to point out some good ward spots, why some spots are better than others, goals to warding, etc. We can just make a custom match and go over it. It's more than just "we need vision," most of the time. Steam name is the same and mumble is just FallenElf. |

This sounds pretty fun. If people are going to do it though, they should have the team(s) playing together on Sunday though, that way they get used to each other's play styles. Sunday inhouses might be the perfect way for the team(s) to get a decent amount of games together in a short time.
Just an idea. |

Posted by zap_brannigan456 I think on my first character, i used the Winged Spear I found in the graveyard at the beginning of the game, and upgraded it to scale with my Int. I want to say the modifiers that scale with your own stats are the best. Lighting is pretty powerful though. I was never a big fan of Qualeogs Fury...or however you spell it....I never had that much Humanity to have it be very effective. Well I just finished building the Furysword and it's doing double the damage that my Lightening Iato was. I have around 30 dex now and 4 or 5 humanity. I think I was hitting the silver knights in Anor Londo for 140 damage with a +3 Furysword. I'm definitely enjoying it. I'm about to kill the giants before the white smoke, but just got revenge for the Fire Keeper. Posted by zap_brannigan456 Yeah, i would say the Thief build is pretty tough for the first time around, but so satisfying when you can kill most things in 1 hit! Backstabbing and Parrying is awesome! Bosses Hard ![]() If you killed the chica in the Painted World, i believe you can use her soul to build a bad-ass dagger...Priscilla Dagger I believe? I think its supposed to be one of the best in the game. If i was going to get it on the PC, i think I would need to get a Wireless XBox controller adapter, I heard playing on the Keyboard is awful. I also finished the painted world (unfortunately didn't get the tail), but I did net like 50K+ souls from the world, including killing the invading fire King. Posted by binaryatrocity I've never seen or heard about this game in my life that I can recall. I love RPG's. Post a video that will sell me on it! Here's a video of the first boss whom you fight about 5 minutes into the game. |

Posted by Shane I spoke to a few of the new guys and asked what they thought and what could be changed and a few of them either wanted captains mode and the others wanted not so serious games so I think we need to have waiting rooms for each of the game types and lots and lots of free channels to use with inhouse titles on each.I do not mind helping out at all but we also need to remind people to join on mumble on other days not just sunday. Also some kinda way to report C**unts to people so everyone enjoys a nice relaxed time playing dota. I agree, I think a Captains Mode lobby and an AP/AR/SD lobby would be a good idea. You had a really good idea of adding the PW to each lobby in the name of the lobby. But other than a hiccup or two...Yoda...last night was super fun!! Posted by zap_brannigan456 From a new guy perspective...... I like Captains mode in a sense that it does seem to create a bit more balance for the more experienced players, i.e...Anti-Mage is not just stomping around on people, I get a chance to learn a bit of strategy. At the same time, I am not familiar with all the characters, so its hard to be put in a position where I have no idea what I am doing with someone. Granted, maybe its probably a good thing to play some characters I would normally not choose, but it is disheartening to just bring the team down, no matter if its a serious game or not. That AR game. That was rough ![]() Edit #3: Last night we had about 40 people on the server at one point. It looks like we might be getting close to hitting that 50 person cap, any way to increase that, esp since Alverez hinted at some special guests possibly coming in the next few weeks? |

Posted by Gambit First of all, thanks for some really nice games yesterday guys; I certainly had a lot of fun ![]() I think with yesterdays turnout being so high, we might consider two days of inhouses per week or maybe a coaching day, where new players could get help with the nitty-gritty of their favorite hero. I am not the biggest fan of randomizing the teams as it tends to lead to very one-sided games, especially when one team doesn't have an experienced captain and the other does. I much prefer captains drafting players (maybe with Irish players being auto-banned ![]() To zap_brannigan456 and all the other new players who might be a bit anxious about captain's mode, don't worry about letting your team down, as long we communicate and have fun, it's all good ![]() Ook typing on shity ie6 comp right now so i can't see what i'm writing. I like playing against palyers that are better than me because it forceces me to play better, but I can see where this is a it pof a disadvantage when starting out. I think that we should do a CM game with 2 experienced players being captins and going hard support and explaining their picks to new guys. I'm looking at the 2 europeans in this thread. Shane was awesome yesterday when we did AP and he went Chen. I think a CM lobby, an AP, lobby and a CM (learning) lobby ould be a good idea, that way we get the best of all worlds. |
