Blogs are a lot of work, though. Would you be able to volunteer to do the writing?

I searched around for about 30 minutes to see what I could find. Youtube allows longer videos, but you must be a partner, which means you have to post fairly often and have a good following. Vimeo would allow longer videos but they specifically don't allow gaming videos.

Not sure what other options there are.

I'm definitely going to have to apologize for any mispronunciations. If I don't know how to pronounce something I just make it up, but I'll remember if anyone points it out. While watching a game 1 or 2 times beforehand would certainly help, that takes more time and patience than I have. I'll learn as I go and I'll start to figure out when a gank/kill is coming up.

We didn't cover the draft because quite honestly we have no idea what we would say during the draft. Very little action goes on during the draft, and they usually take about 10 minutes. Once I get more comfortable with filling dead air, and I learn more about the heroes I'll add in drafting.

I'll take a look at some other sites and see how they compare to youtube. The only real downside to youtube is having to split up the files, which we may be able to get around later on. They have probably the most reliable player, a good upload system, an extremely far-reaching community, and if we later on get a good following we can put in ads to help support the site and mumble server.

There is certainly a lot that could be said, but I'm still too new to both casting and DOTA to be able to fill those 10 minutes. I'm working on playing all of the characters a few times, but I'm still not there yet.

Thanks for offering. Its hard for me to ask specific questions because what I really need to do is just study and memorize at this point. If you want to cast with me and pick up areas I miss, or start conversations during the cast about these topics let me know, as that would help me as well as anyone watching the VOD.

Yeah, I know you're just offering help. I memorize best through practice, so that's what I'm doing.

"Love is Dead here coming to you from the DOTA International, where this year's prize pool is 10 million dollars. DOTA 2 has really taken off and the community is astounding. A shout out to my roots over at dotanoobs.com, possibly the best community in the world to learn how to play. Let's check in with the teams, Tobi."

I'd just like to point out that eventually we aren't going to be noobs anymore. We will have to find some way to include more skilled players, so I wouldn't outright tell them they can't play, but try to get them to be helpful and provide advice. If they are only interested in stomping noobs, then sure, kick them, but we should be careful not to offend someone that could bring something useful to the community.

Oh that last game was a mess!

I'd vote for Sunday night rather than Monday night, as I think we could get more people that way. What I have found is that the amount of people online on facebook or gchat jumps up Sunday night as everyone winds down for their weekend and prepares for the week.

I'm also going to be starting a new job in about a week and a half. I won't be able to participate as much as I have been since the job is 7pm-7am 4 days a week with a rotating schedule. I have no idea what that's going to do to my gaming time, but I'll do my best to play with you all, or at least commentate afterwards.

www.joindota.com - Pro matches and commentary

http://www.youtube.com/user/PurgeGamers/featured - Purge makes some pretty good instructional videos to get you started

Once you pick out a few players that you like in pro matches you can search their name in the DOTA 2 client and watch the game from their perspective, which is also helpful. Na'Vi Dendi is one of the best out there right now.

Game 3 is now live! Go check it out!

I have to apologize to my two commentators, we ran through a fourth game, but I made the classic and incredibly stupid mistake of not hitting the record button. I'm still kicking myself for that one. But, on the bright side, we still got the experience of doing it.

Trying something new, bringing back an old interest I had in college, I'm starting a radio show. I take time to pick music that you very likely haven't heard before. You might not like it, but you also might like it! Anyways, if you're tired of your static playlists give this a listen (it's free!).

Glad you've joined up. We could use some more skilled people to help the community grow. Let me know if you want to do commentaries.

Game 4 is up! This time the link is to the playlist I created for it, so you shouldn't have to go searching for the next video. It should play through continuously.

While reddit has been a source of our recruitment, I think we have mostly been self sufficient in terms of a community. We haven't really been using /r/redditdoobs that much, and we don't require players to actually be active redditors. Maybe I should instead create a logo that identifies us independently rather than one that connects us to reddit.

What do you think? Should we be dotanoobs or redditdoobs?
