Oh man, that brings me back to the ye ol' days of Oregon Trail.

It's 4:12AM, the game seems to be 'released'. All attempts to run/re-validate have failed so far..... I woke up for nothing....

EDIT: EHRMAGERD!!! I restarted Steam and the bitch kicked into gear, heyo!!!!

Edit2: Got about 6 missions in, lost two of my top 4 guys, so I just rage-quit without saving and figure I'll start over now that I know what I'm doing. Bed time before work now haah.

Funny story, I woke at 6 AM est and noticed you were playing. Now was this you still playing from midnight, or was this you waking up early to play?

Ha ha I slept till 11 my time then played till about 2. I did great until I shot down my first UFO. The mission started great with me surprising a group of Sectoids standing directly out front of their ship. My soldiers were spread a nice formation and we made quick work of the mind melding whores. The front door of the ship was closed and protected via a strange alien force field denying me entry but luckily a huge hole had been torn out of the side of the craft on impact. I swung my squad around and covered the smoking breach, but I was then forced with a hard decision. I had no vision on the interior of this craft, but I had a pretty good feeling that the rest of the alien scum was creeping around inside based on some noises I'd heard the turn before. One of my starting rookies, Justin D Barnhill had just leveled up to the status of assault class which unlocked the "run and gun" ability and outfitted him with a shotgun. The perfect combo I thought, I'll just dash him in, surprises the out world bitches and put them down with a nice shot of buckshot to their elongated skulls. So without considering any other plan of action I activated the ability and sent Justin into the bowels of an unknown alien space craft Rambo style!

At first my plan went off without a hitch, I found the one Sectoid that had been making the noise right inside the craft and promptly showed him the power of the boom stick! My sense of accomplishment quickly dissolved on the next turn as 2 glowing alien super soldiers entered the craft from a back door, flanking Justin and laying down an ass raping on the poor champ that hasn't been seen since Andy Dufresne fought the 'good fight' against the Sisters in Shawshank. These two glowing bastards went on to kill another rookie before my experienced heavy finally put them down with a well placed rocket.

I lost two good men today.. and I can't wait to get home this afternoon and loose a few more!

This is XCom baby!

Dammit, I guess I'll have to buy this game now.

Haha yes! I played that exact mission, killed both of those super-guys with a well-placed frag. The next mission after that I lost my best sniper and best support

Super awesome fun though. And fallen that was me still playing, I'm at work sleeping on the desk right now

I've taken to pretending my co-workers are aliens and tactically avoiding them all day.. so far no casualties.. so far.

I bet you guys all have the gun and run perk... straight through the door and get that computer on in the same turn.

My computer is on, I'll VNC in and get XCOM running before I leave so I just have to turn on the TV and plug in my controller (haven't tried the controller yet for this game).

And fallen I am 8:00AM to 5:00PM, and it's ALMOST 5!!! I even managed to write most of this paper so I can avoid thinking about Uni work while slaying nasty alien scum. I haven't even looked at the Multiplayer options yet, I wonder if there is like a campaign co-op, although that's probably too much to ask for.

Nah just deathmatch at this point, but I suspect they'll be adding a lot of support to multiplayer. We can play a match tonight if you want to try it out.

Do either of you have streaming capabilities? It would be hilarious to watch and listen to you two duke it out.

Well I know what I'm watching tonight.

So i am a bit behind it looks like, i just tried the demo. The only other game I have played similar to this format is Commands, and just from the brief demo of Xcom....it kind of blows Commands out of the water. How does Multiplayer work in this game though?
