Posted by binaryatrocity I base my soldier load-out on the mission difficulty. For example Terror and Abduction missions I KNOW some of my squad is going to die, because I will risk them to ensure the safety of VIP/Civilians, and will take a squad of 3-4 rookies/squaddies and maybe one experienced guy, but not my BEST. The other missions are a little more laid back and I can take as many turns as I want to move into position so I take my experienced guys there to get them... well... more experience haha. My biggest problem with this game is that both Uno and Walmart have made FallenElf soldiers and let them DIE. This will not stand. I should be heroically decorated and very much ALIVE. |

So, a couple of months ago I was talking to Gambit about how, in general, I could get better at Dota. Aside from last hitting better, paying more attention to the map, etc, he mentioned watching my own replays. So I started watching replays of games where I've won and lost, and tried to note area I messed up, whether it be misusing a hero's skills or just general lack of map awareness.
I can easily say this made me a much better player (except that VS game the other night. Wipe that from your minds) and have been trying to do it more often. It's pretty eye opening seeing how many last hits you miss or how out of position you were. I was wondering if people might be interested in maybe watching a replay at the same time, yours or mine, or maybe a game where we played together, and just pointing out mistakes, good plays, etc. to try and help each other get better. I've had Gambit look at one or two (probably more) of mine and his insight was great. Thoughts? |

I'm about halfway through my second dark souls run. I think I can marathon through it in a couple of evenings. Once that's done, I'll be on the Xcom train. |

Posted by binaryatrocity I think we should do this officially. Lets take a game a month or so, and get 4-5 of us in a private Mumble channel and just talk about the game as it goes on. We can post these to the site for others to watch. I think that would be a good way to add something of value to the site and we can all learn a thing or two. Works for me. Maybe do one every two weeks, picking from the Sunday inhouses and then post on the DN youtube channel? |

Posted by KreeJaffaKree I will be there spectating as soon as I get home. ![]() Why oh why did I agree to try and do something as unimportant as finding a place to live when I could have been DOTER? ![]() Agreed, this was silly. Mr. Kree and yourself should put off finding a living situation for Dota. I can put as the sub in the second match if you think you'll be back. He also might play more. |

Posted by Citizen Jack de Frog Sign me in some spot where spots are quite spotted. Blah I should really read this stuff before everyone fill slots. Well SUNSfan isn't sure if Reeves can make it. if he can't you in the first game. I'm going to talk to him again tomorrow or Saturday, so hopefully he'll know by then. |

These guys are right. I went from being pretty bad to being able to admit that I've never lost a game of Dota.

Posted by Zuko I already have mumble don't worry about that, so yeah I'll come and idle tonight as soon as I'm playing, should I go see someone or should I go to a solo channel or..? If people are ingame they won't see my messages on mumble anyway! ![]() And I'll make sure to provide you with bread, cheese and whine, and for the bravest of you I even have some snails ![]() Look at this guy, new and already offering to send us thank you gifts from France ![]() Best thing to do is just jump on mumble and introduce yourself via typing. Someone will most likely say hello (if they're not afk) once you enter the channel anyway. P.S. I have a friend who is actually flying back from France today. She loves it there. |

Posted by Zuko I know how better it is with a mic, and I'm also really annoyed about that, money isn't the problem but since my computer is in the lounge I'd be able to speak by night time only, and with a low voice.. but I'll see what I can do! As for Sunday I'd be really happy to be part of those games, maybe I should add you on steam or something? Would be easier/faster than mumble I guess You should talk with Gambit about speaking in a low voice. His dulcet tones lull me to sleep sometimes ![]() I would jump in mumble then just type in game to people. Suicide does that and it works out alright. |
