I'm glad you can help. I had a little idea though. What if each mentor was like a specialist in a particular role. That way, we can rotate roles to make everyone more versatile. Then we can put the group together and have each person work their role and learn how the team dynamics work in a real game. If anyone is good in a particular role, it would be best.

Sweet. Thanks for the info. I think I should wait until I get a new PC first.

Where could I see this once you guys are done? And I agree with lemon. It would be best to use general knowledge to learn like in the game I just played (about 80 minutes by the way) and I learned so much during that time in ulti using tines and farming and quick buys and the list goes on but then I got some help from one of the guys in that game especially on Templar Assassin. That was really awesome. Maybe something like that would work. Like a game then a lesson on what you did wrong and or right with some extra knowledge on the hero you used.

All in all, Dota is a team style game so eventually yes, you will find a role that you are good and comfortable with but this program is designed to get new players actually playing and trying to learn about all the different roles and exposing the game to them so that new players can become something awesome one day. Hope that answers your question.

If you need practice casting and seeing some slower moving and much more basic plays, you can always look over the new player games. I don't know how much it will help but the games would be more simple.

I leave you guys alone for half a day and I come back to this! I like it. I think it is good to have this well of knowledge and let players draw from it. We are ironing things out but I would be glad to have more people involved.

That's some pretty epic stuff you have there. I like the Doobs intro. If the community wanted to, we could totally create some epic vids on guides and random stuff. That would be pretty cool.

Does anyone know any good websites with a lot of guides? I really want to learn and I feel guides will help me when I'm not in game.

I would totally use some of my time to show what not to do. Or maybe I can help in some other way.

Hey! I'm currently working with some new players and old ones as well to create a new player club thing. If you are interested, we have posted a lot of information on it in the Events and Tournaments forum so check it out. Also I highly recommend asking hero questions on the Hero Guides forum and you can ask even the most noobish questions or comments and get great responses. And last but not least, WELCOME!

So being new to gaming in general, I decided to give the never-played-by-me Pokemon series a try. So I downloaded Virtual Boy Advance and the Pokemon Red ROM (Thanks Wikipedia for ordering the games). Pretty fun game. I will say that. I am horrible. Anyone else play and can give me some tips?

Howdy there! It wasn't all that long ago that I was in a similar situation, and having a good group of people to play with can really help make the transition into MM pleasant. Skyop will probably pop in a bit later, he has been gathering a bunch of the newer guys to get experienced together since mixing skill levels in MMing parties can lead to... "interesting" results. Hop on our TS3 server and introduce yourself there, too. Cheers!

Geez. You nailed that. As you can guess, it is I the all mighty magical awesome supreme Skyop! If you want, we can start to work on figuring out the new player thing. We had a test week (The other participants and myself) before the site went down and that went absolutely horribly but now we have worked a lot of things out. If you are really dedicated to learning the game and having fun then check out the post in the Events and Tournaments forum for all our talk. Also, if you ever need me, I stalk the forums so PM me or post something and I will do all I can or the wonderful admins will. Thanks for the time! And most of all...WELCOME TO THE SITE!

So I heard at school that pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of Red and Blue. If that is the case, should I switch over to like the new ones. I have only about 2 hours into red.

First off I would like to address your avatar. It is quite possibly the best and most well matched I have ever seen. Secondly, That is a great idea. What you mentioned concerning basics is exactly what needs to be done. I, being a noob with only 10 wins, could never figure that out. I was thinking about having not only in game practice like we had in the past (because wee always had that one filler guy that was way over all our levels) but also having text and or videos/talks on the subjects. I would love to go find articles on these topics but I would not be able to tell if they were good or bad information wise. We could always do four new players and a vet play in a bot match. That way they wont get stomped so bad like in MM. Let me know how you think it could be structured.

I really like that idea of like a lesson. I think warding is a great place to start because of the fact that a lot of new players fill support roles rather than full blown hard carry. Then from there, it would be easy to build up to more advanced topics like ganks and pulling and lane control.
