Dammit, I guess I'll have to buy this game now.

I know, this is getting unbearable.

Do either of you have streaming capabilities? It would be hilarious to watch and listen to you two duke it out.

It has been done... purchased this morning and set it downloading. Now I am the one counting down until quitting time!

EDIT: Oh, and it is Classic Ironman or bust!

Welcome to Dota Noobs. If you are specifically looking for scrims we run in-houses every Sunday at 3PM EST. There are frequently enough people on the Mumble server to organize impromptu in-houses, although these can be fun AR affairs as often as they are serious CM/RD/etc ones. Cheers!

No luck for playing at work, although I did get some time in this morning. I am on my... sixth classic ironman game? At least the last one I rode out to the very end and saw the losing cutscene. I've been brainstorming and thought you guys with a few more days experience than me could give some input.

I feel like getting an additional satellite up before the first council review is essential as it vastly increases your resources for the second month. Getting more than two satellites up seems a bit tricky since building another uplink requires 10 engineers. I guess it is possible to get an uplink and a third satellite up before the third month if you take the engineer reward mission and start in a region that generates engineers, but is this what you guys do?

The other major resource is experienced soldiers, and I think this is where I am failing. Most of my soldiers die at the rookie or squadie levels, and I have only ever had a few corporals spread over all of my games. One of the things that I noticed in the early missions is that I do not take advantage of flanking enough. Do you guys try to quickly get up a group of experienced soldiers, or mix in a few rookies the way Star Trek threw the red shirts into the fray? Or have you simply ignored missions when your forces were recovering?

My biggest problem with this game is that both Uno and Walmart have made FallenElf soldiers and let them DIE. This will not stand. I should be heroically decorated and very much ALIVE.

I have given up on naming soldiers for the time being... it was getting depressing. Thanks for the tips binary!

I'd be up for that, if just to get in the habit of watching replays critically.

I would jump in mumble then just type in game to people. Suicide does that and it works out alright.

Yeah, a good number of us have the text-to-voice enabled on Mumble. I now equate Suicide with a robotic female.
