First of all, thanks for some really nice games yesterday guys; I certainly had a lot of fun .
I think with yesterdays turnout being so high, we might consider two days of inhouses per week or maybe a coaching day, where new players could get help with the nitty-gritty of their favorite hero.
I am not the biggest fan of randomizing the teams as it tends to lead to very one-sided games, especially when one team doesn't have an experienced captain and the other does. I much prefer captains drafting players (maybe with Irish players being auto-banned ) like we've done in the past to alleviate this problem.
To zap_brannigan456 and all the other new players who might be a bit anxious about captain's mode, don't worry about letting your team down, as long we communicate and have fun, it's all good

Just wanted to let you guys know how proud we are of everyone that participated Sunday night! We’ve talked to Synderen a few times since he played with us and he’s had nothing but great things to say about our little community here. We’ve strived very hard to create a unique atmosphere here at DotaNoobs and we think we portrayed that excellently on Sunday afternoon. Moving forward we’re going to try to get more fun actives like this going. So if you enjoyed yourself and enjoy what we do here take some time to let other players know about us whenever the opportunity arises. See someone on /r/dota2 asking for help? Send them our way? Got a buddy that just got into the beta? Bring him/her to the next Sunday Night Showdown. It’s through organic growth like this that we’ll be able to keep this awesome atmosphere going.

Also please note that we’re always looking for people to help out in anyway they can. So if you’re interested in casting, web design, coding, or community building let us know and we’ll happily put you to work.

I like captaining a lot, though people complaining about picks for literally the whole game today was starting to really piss me off, to be frank. :\ There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with picks and saying so, but complaining about it all game put a bad taste in my mouth and felt really disrespectful. I have disagreed w/ captain's picks before and brought it up, but I would never complain about it all game, even if I thought the "mis-pick" was game-changing. (Which happened recently w/ a Sand King pick when I thought Earthshaker was significantly better vs. the enemy lineup.)


I think it's a lot easier for people to be respectful when people like Gambit and Shane are captains - even when Shane is doing fun, but ridiculous stuff like banning all evil looking heroes (hehe) - than it is to respect some of us Nooblier of Doobs when we're captaining, but is something everyone needs to work on if you two want more people captaining.


For my part, I have pretty thick skin and am happy to try my hand at captaining whenever I'm not feeling too sick, but that tells me if it's something that is putting me off, I would expect it would put others off who may not be willing to speak up.


(Hope this post doesn't offend anyone. I know I'm newer here so I don't have too much ground to stand on, but I fucking love playing with you guys: It's made the game 200% more fun - real maths hehe - and I wanted to give some honest input.)
