When talking with BrosephJones and Alverez last night we came up with the idea of hosting a last hitting tournament, so I wanted to put the idea to the community to see if there is enough interest to get one started.

This would be a good opportunity for us to get some experience using BinaryBeast for tournaments. Since we don't have enough people to run a full 5v5 tournament, I thought this would be a good way to work out the kinks. Here is how it would work:

1v1 mid-only games. The game is played until the game timer reaches 10:00. The player with the most last hits at that time will be considered the winner and will advance in the braket.

Pretty simple and straight-forward, and I think these rules are fair, but reply with any input you have. The results would be submitted via replay and reviewed then entered into BinaryBeast. We could probably manage to host 2 rounds per week rather than 1 since the games are so short and only involve 2 people in order to complete them. That will speed the tournament along.

I'm willing to put a few bucks for a prize in the form of a steam gift credit, or amazon gift card.

I also think this would be a good way, if we offer a prize, to get people to sign up and join our group. However, this will attract the attention of higher skilled players, so we should be careful how we choose to advertise.

Let me know what you all think, and maybe we could get this started soon.

I'll need some input from BinaryAtrocity to figure out the best way to get people signed up for the tourney.

This is such a fantastic idea I can't even tell you how big a smile I have on my face right now. I put off working on BinaryBeast stuff to work on the guide popups because I really want to run through a few sessions of BB so I can get a feel for exactly what kind of controls we are going to need to create for ourselves.

THIS IS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO DO THAT. I am 100% down to throw some cash in the prize pools as well. We have two options for getting things working sign-up wise. I can create/modify our "Team registration" form for this and dump it all in a database, but I feel like that is a bit much for right now (until we get our custom BB panel to do it for us! ), so the other option is to create a "Events" category in the forum, create a subforum for Last Hit Tournaments, and just use threads to get everything organized for now. We could sticky the thread for the upcoming game, and the first post would be edited to display current registrants etc or w/e.

Or if you guys have a better idea I'm all ears hit me. I work 2 third shifts this coming week over spring break so I got plenty of time to whip something up.

Fucking awesome idea.

Just reading this now, but I think it's an awesome idea. I'd also be willing to throw down some cash for a prize. It'll give me a reason to focus on my atrocious last hitting with some heroes.

The only change I would make to the rules is to ban Lich. I don't think his sacrifice ability would be fair or balanced in a tourney like this.

that can be said for any good aoe then.
can you ban tiny since an avalanche + toss kills an entire creep wave?

god forbid gyrocopter gets released before we do this, then its really GG

i think it should be a no spells only last hits type of game

i think that just strait last hitting is a bit boring if we were to watch this while yes we want people to learn last hitting without using abilities some great laners like veno and viper and weaver lose a good advantage they have.

instead of just strait last hitting we could also have a lane/rune control component like giving the other person points if the creeps hit you tower and getting x bonus points for getting a rune.

we may also want to class the heroes by last hit animation. like easy ,med ,hard ,etc ,etc
