I've been playing DOTA2 for a few weeks now. In the beginning, I played only with bots. Then I played three random games, back to back, with strangers.
Three games, three terrible losses. I spent most of my time trying to support carries (carrys?) that auto-attacked, getting ganked countless times, and generally being a terrible noob. I don't play a lot, but I do try to look up guides and be somewhat informed. Right now I see one of my biggest weaknesses (aside from not knowing much about the various heroes and items) is trying to stay aware of what's going on in the mini-map while playing. I get so focused on what I'm trying to do that I forget about the rest of the map. I've been looking at DOTA2 communities for ways to find people to play with who are interested in playing as a team, helping each other improve, but not being jerks while doing it. I'm really happy that I found this site. ![]() |

Hey there, and welcome! The best thing to do is get on our TeamSpeak server (voice.dotanoobs.com), join a busy channel and introduce yourself. There is a group of new players (thread here) that are trying to play together and then hand off the replays to more experienced people for feedback. Or you can jump straight into the fire and party up with higher MMR people if you so desire. Cheers!

Like Uno said, there are a lot of new players out there, like myself, and we are constantly being informed on better ideas and ways to do things. If you are interested in working with higher MMR (Match Making Rating) people, pretty much everyone is so hop into a game and learn a lot. Hope to play some games sometime!

Hello Mappew! Welcome to the community, I (like you) am fairly new to dota as well. If you would like to group up, please feel free to add me in game. I go by techsupprt and will gladly share the growing pains with you. That is until I am needed somewhere else (and I.T.'s job is never done!!). See you in game and cheers!

Yeah, one of the toughest things to do as a support is to figure out once the laning stage ends. We can help with that.
