Hi all,
I feel that I could really do with some help in dota 2, which while I do enjoy playing I am terrible at. I am UK based and currently would like to play support so that I can make valid additions to the game for my team without my mistakes costing them too badly. My current favourite heroes are lich (support) and Ursa(jungler) but I am always willing to try more heroes out to widen my knowledge. I look forward to any and all of the coaching/support I recieve from any of the Doobs who wish to help me. Thanks for reading, Quartux |

I'm sure there are plenty of people in the community that would be glad to help. For the others that may be reading this thread, why not tell us a little more about the problems you've been having, and your experience with dota? How long have you been playing, how many games do you have under your belt, what are the things you struggle with in game and would like to improve upon?
My ID is dakheva if you'd like to talk further, as support tends to be my favourite role. Something to do with the masochistic, eye-rolling satisfaction that comes from chasing after my dota 'children' with band-aids and sandwiches. "Anti-mage! WHAT HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT PLAYING WITH ROSHAN!" But yeah, the more you tell us, the more we can help! Bandit |

Thanks for the quick replies guys, In response to you first, Bandit, I have been playing offline for about a month normally with the restricted hero pool and easy bots, and s such don't have a lot of 'real' games under my belt, my current wins/losses is 0/2 with 2 abandons completely due to internet connection problems, but in the few games I have played I feel that I was less help and more of a hinderance being carried by the rest of the team through the game. I believe that I have the biggest problem with knowing what to do when, such as What Item should I be aiming for now, should I push yet, should I go for a kill, should I pull back etc. which is very hard to learn with bots I find, who offer no help at all other than to 5 on 1 me whilst my allied bot defend a tower from creeps.
As to you fallenelf86, the reason why I play ursa as a jungler is because a) I was told when I picked him that that's where I should go and stay and b) When I jungled him against bots I destroyed them in the endgame. but I do see your point, I just haven't tried it to agree or disagree with you. I also have the current problem that my laptops mic input is currently busted so I can't talk, this however doesn't stop me listening to your advice or responding through chat, so I am still an enthusiastic learner eagerly awaiting any and all help. Thanks, Quartux |

I still get that even now, that shit doesn't go away if you're not completely full of yourself like Fallen ![]() Basics are wards, truesight (if needed, otherwise just to deward), mek as soon as possible, and then I like to get survivability items - as supports are infamously squishy. Things like force staff, euls, blink, drums, etc. Whichever your preference is for ease of use. The life of a support isn't a glamorous one, but your job is to make the team run smoothly. You provide sight to warn of ganks and create opportunities for them (consider where you're warding based on what you want to achieve - as pushing into an area you don't know what's coming is never nice), you utilise your disables, stuns and skills to help teamfights and ganks, and you try not to die ![]() As I said, feel free to add me if you want to chat. Also fallen, you need to work on your locks. Flimsy. As. Shit. |
