I came across DOTA Noobs recently in my search for a newbie-friendly DOTA community. I was hanging out in the Greenhorns LFG channel yesterday and managed to find a few people to play games with me. It was a positive experience so I plan to stick around.

I am a long-time gamer with special interest in team-oriented strategic (mostly FPS but some MMORPG) games, new to the MOBA scene. I started playing DOTA regularly within the last two months and have been really enjoying it, especially when matched with friends or friendly, communicative players. I watched most of TI3 and have been reading up on mechanics as I would like to take my game beyond the novice level.

I usually tend to play hard support for my DOTA-playing friends and pub matches. I'm comfortable playing semi-carry or middle with a few characters I know well enough to play intelligently. I like to play different characters and positions when the opportunities present themselves, as I feel this experience leads to being a well-rounded, versatile player. All this to say I'd like to be a flexible team player but I lack experience at this point.

This thread is pretty dated, even by the time logan last-posted, however I would enjoy participating in something as described here. If those involved last time had a positive experienced and would consider leading sessions again, please get in touch.

I'm definitely interested in acquiring this game. The original PAYDAY was quite a bit of fun, despite never getting to play much of it. I hear this sequel improved the gameplay considerably.

I may wait for a GMG/Steam sale on this title. If you end up finding a third taker but are unable to find a fourth, ping me and I'll reevaluate.

Kree and someone else whose name I missed were there trying to drag me out of my noob habits as well, so hopefully their collective advice proved to be beneficial. Thanks to all who were involved, I really do appreciate the help, despite remaining pretty quiet during those games.

Cheers Bandit. I will likely hop on TS when I am free and idle in the LFG channel. Soliciting folks at random is less my style, so please pull me into a game if you see me idling and you can tolerate a feeder in your games.

Did anyone pick this up and wants to take advantage of the Double XP event ongoing today through August 26th? I played far too many hours of BF3 on Xbox 360 and only recently acquired the PC version through the aforementioned sales. I would be happy to squad-up with fellow Doobs and bring some real teamwork to your games.

Good advice. I'm really trying to appeal to reason with my friends when we play games but a few key people are always quick to anger and blame anyone or anything for being outplayed or making bad decisions. It is demoralizing.

This is great. Why leave if you are still having fun? If the other team wasn't enjoying playing 5v2 they could just as easily have left.

Sounds like a reasonable approach. Fewer forums to consolidate the sprinkling of activity would likely be a user experience improvement.

There is an Ideas and Suggestions forum. Your suggestion may get more attention/discussion there. Perhaps an admin will move your thread there on your behalf.

Off-topic: I still uses a private Murmur server and we are more than happy with it. What prompted the switch to TS?

Do you accept patches? If there is a pipeline for that that wouldn't generate extra work for your team, point me in the right direction.

Makes sense, I figured that was the case. ICE is no fun and a horrible legacy API design.
