So some of you may have noticed that now if you go to report or commend somebody you can only choose one of the options. Valve has "fixed" their reporting system. The system is now a stack system that will actually mute you in game. Here's the best part even when muted someone can report you FOR CHAT ABUSE AND YOUR MUTE WILL BE EXTENDED.

When people start speaking in pings when they aren't muted by the player its a bit of a giveaway

The dota 2 subreddit has been up in arms about this since patch day. Apparently the muting system is automated so as soon as you get 4 comminication reports against you, you are automatically muted, nothing you can do about it.

This has lead to a series of spite mutings occuring where if a stack loses, they will just report everyone on the other team for communication abuse, which gets them auto muted.

Basically, Valve just gave the trolls something else to troll with.

New patch notes removed all current communication bans.

Nowhere in those notes does it say that it remove current ban system. It just fixes bugs with their still horrible ban system.

Unless it is somewhere else in the forum. Where a 4 stack can just report you and then you are comm banned for however long is just stupid.

EDIT: Well I'm stupid I'm too focused on the list instead of the unlisted portion of the bottom that says all bans are lifted. Still a horrible system.

They are coming up with new ideas and iterating to success. This is how development works.

There is a difference between development and just stupidity. A system that involves community honesty will NEVER work (which is sad as hell). There will always be butt-hurt players and trolls.

This thread is getting kind of pointless. There's a general consensus that yes, the system they have in place sucks, but people were also complaining that previous system was too lenient. They will find a happy medium and would like to point out that you're playing a 100% free game that is still in beta.

The game is in beta, I think for the amount of things they've gotten right so far you should give them a bit of slack.
