Whether you can do your Best with them,or cause you really like the items you have for them. or you really hate a certain hero( for being op,or you can't play him/her. Or you keep getting ganked with that enemy hero.)etc, etc. I just wanna know what you know.
Phantom Lancer { me current fav} Dazzle {bit rusty, though I can still play him} Keeper Of The Light { still learning} Clockwerk {I can hook, just no good with escaping} Pudge { one of me favs, but I can't play him yet. Cant hook for sh1+) Riki { although he may be fun to play, I just don't.} Well that's me, what's yours? |

I tend to play support, and most of my shiny items are couriers and wards and such. I go through 'phases' of loving different heroes, after I collected a WR set through drops/trades I went on a WR spree, now since ranked MMR I'm loving Lina and 'Dis Raptor' since they suit my playstyle really well.
I think your favourite change a lot, dependent on your bracket (for example I used to play KotL all the time, now in higher brackets not so much), or on patching (haven't played much Rhasta since 6.79 made ward trapping objectively easier), or on a million other things. As I said though, right now, I like blowing people up with lightning, and dragging people back into a fight *just* as they think they've escaped *Evil chuckle* |

There really is a big change as you progress in DOTA from "these are my favorite heroes" to "this is my favorite role".
When you start out you kind of have to stick to certain heroes to get a sense of consistency in a game in which every match is completely different from the last. I'm at the point after playing for over a year that I finally feel comfortable with all the heroes in the game, excluding a few (meepo, invoker) simply because they are the type of hero you need to dedicate some time to nailing down and even then, they are a bit tricky. Once you have a good solid base on almost every hero, you tend to learn which ones you really excel and using to your advantage. Everyone is better at different things in the game, and some heroes lend themselves to that specialty more than others. That said, some of my personal favs are Earthshaker, Witch Doctor, and Phantom Assassin... so thats all over the board. Sidenote: Bandit is an epic support and the best person to learn to play support from in Doobs, if you can get some of her time, pick her brain and pick up some pointers. |
