Everyone is welcome to put their ideas in for what we could have on the banner. I'm going to attempt to make a design for us, and it'll be open for us to change and add to. I want everyone to be a part of making it.

First things first:

1. What DotA characters should be featured on it? Keep in mind the other leagues' banners and what characters they have on theirs.

2. Should we add any kind of custom insignia? Do we consider the Reddit Alien/Dota symbol (above) our insignia? If so, we can definitely include it.

3. Do you have any sample pictures to grab ideas from as far as style and composition goes?

dota characters in my opinion:
anti-mage (its the blades that look awesome)
windrunner
vengeful spirit
just for starters

that insignia is freaking awesome and should def be included

i think having a mountin with a base camp since we are a learing place and you make the mountain rosh

1. I personally think Kunkka is a pretty good character for us, he looks like someone that might teach you a thing or two. Honestly there are a ton we could include but I think having just one would work out better.

2.) That symbol was put together quickly while we got the league off the ground. We've all decided to move away from being a reddit only based community and instead will be focusing on transitioning into a more neutral site. So I wouldn't include the Reddit Alien.

3.) I'll look around. I keep toying with the idea of having Kunkka on the helm of a ship with his blade extending looking all hero-ish and noble. Or maybe do a Dota 2 rendition of the famous 'Crossing of the Delaware' painting. I think that would be pretty clever if we could pull it off.

its nice but in my opinion too simple. i think making it too over complicated is bad, but as a starting point its not bad.

i totally forgot that items should somehow be incorporated. maybe the courier, definitely a TP scroll.

When you mentioned the Crossing of the Delaware painting, I smiled. That's hilariously awesome. Will definitely consider.

I'm glad you mentioned deviating away from association with Reddit. I know RedditNoobs left a bad taste in a lot of our mouths, and we're trying to be a better example of a noob environment. So we'll have to come up with an insignia!

Also, I like Kunkka but we'll need to definitely get more opinions first.

Great idea for referencing the splash pages. Can probably make a concept just by photoshopping a couple things together with those.

No, I don't take any offense, I just didn't receive any feedback on it so I had no idea what the opinion of it was. If its not what everyone wants, that's fine, I can take the criticism. I've a degree in art so I'm used to it. Drawing isn't my strong suit anyways, although I am learning.

Did you post the gem logo and I missed it? I remember you showed me when it was the gem and no text but that was the last I had seen.

As to a logo, the one thing we definitely NEED is a small scale-able insignia that has our name or initials on it that we can use as a button or a favicon, or to place as a overlay on Streams. The reddit-dota symbol or Love's Gem of Truesight with the Dotanoobs DN on it are prime examples. It needs to be something recognizable.

I would like to have like dota noobs avatars ingame, like the proteams have. Something to represent the community outside of this site! I am however terrible at design stuff, i do like the gem design i must say though

Yeah, I posted it in the new logo? thread. We need two things, a banner and a logo. The gem and the old reddit icon work as a logos, but not so much as a banner themselves. If you take joindota.com as an example, they have Bloodseeker as their banner and jD as their logo. I think we should incorporate a logo into the banner as it will be a recognizable icon, but I won't be too broken up if Arafelle designs something else other than the gem.

I like the gem as a logo personally.

I'm thinking that all of us are pretty much in agreement that the gem is a great symbol for us. It also kind of matches the basis of our league; 'true sight' being a sort of illustration of helping people "see" beyond their limitations.

With your permission, may I give an attempt at making the image more stylized?

Yeah, that's the idea I was going for. I think if we do choose it, we'll have to switch our color scheme a bit to better fit with green.

We can probably fix your account if the problem is still occurring when you get home. Catch one of the admins in Steam or in Mumble. I'm currently "at work" as well, but will be on later tonight.

ya i would change the default colour scheme but i already changed it on my end because the blue on blue on blue is pretty dull

There are plans on redoing the forum CSS but we've not had time yet. Always looking for webdevs to help out with things like this.

My only criticism on the Gem logo is the DN, it needs to be more pronounced somehow. Imagine if that gem was your Avatar in game, people should be able to make out the DN from the scoreboard.

Also, I'm gonna switch the default theme of the board, because no one likes the default blue lol.

Hmm, what about a Radiant/Dire battle? Something like Kunka battling Tide Hunter, the opposites battling, maybe over a TP scroll with the DOTA2 symbol in the middle? Surrounded by a wave of creeps?
