Started to cast pro MM games, which is exciting. Dotacinema.com gave me a daily spotlight feature for my mouz SingSing VOD.

Here's my youtube channel if you want to see what I've got:

Hey, cool! I'll take a look at this tonight. Are you looking for any feedback on it?

Sure, if you want to provide it, but I'm aware of a lot of the things I need to practice such as not getting jumbled up with my speech during teamfights and recognizing and memorizing abilities.

I think your play-by-play is getting pretty good. The one thing that I missed relative to other casters was the "big picture" discussion, though. It may be a personal thing, but I like to learn as much as possible while watching streams. Any thoughts on that?

I thought it was a more suitable overview for a new player, the way you explained some of the very basic ability nuisances was pretty cool.

For just getting into this stuff, you're doing excellent man.

Hey man, i really liked the cast. I agree with Polak in that the play by play was pretty good. Only on that rare occasion was there some dead space but eliminating that just takes some practice i'd assume.. Keep it up!

Working on the "big picture." The thing about getting the big picture is that I have to first recognize the big picture. It takes a LOT of knowledge and experience to be able to pull up any 10 heroes and make guesses as to what the overall strategy is going to be. Even describing a single lane takes a lot of experience. What I'm doing is reading through every ability on dota2wiki for every hero, and once I've done that I'm going to read them again.

Its also hard to switch gears between big picture and action-ganking which is fairly heavy in the games I casted. Often you'll get interrupted by a teamfight as you try to describe something else, and then have to remember what you were talking about to finish it after a team fight, that is, if the whole strategy hasn't changed as a result of the fight.

Anyways, thanks for the encouragement.

Don't get me wrong, I think your casting is getting really good. It seems like most sports announcers (and esports casters) split the play-by-play and "big picture" or "insight" duties into two different people as much as possible, too. Are you going to keep posting here or should I just subscribe to your Youtube channel?

You should subscribe to my channel, since I don't want to spam the forum with daily updates.

They do split it up a lot of the time. SynderN is much better at big picture predictions than Tobi, but Tobi does play-by-play the best.

Personally I'm a much bigger SynderN fan myself. Seems like his theory is way more in depth and his professionalism is amazing compared to Tobi. Just my opinion though.

I like the combination. Tobi is more of an exciting guy who needs to be in the front, and no one can announce teamfights the way he can or with the same level of excitement. SynderN is very intelligent in his suggestions on theory and compliments Tobi's more sort of reactionary mode.

i think its just the speed he casts at during fights. he gets a lot of information in really quickly. and he's really good at it in terms of not getting confused. also hsi energy levels. "OMG THAT DENDI EPIIIIII' or "LIGHT OF HEAVEN SHACKLLLE OOMMGG"

I just watched another of your pro MM casts (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzK4nJ-hR5Y&feature=g-all-u) and quite enjoyed it. Have you given thought to your casting style/niche? At least that video felt like it was emphasizing information, particularly for low-/mid-tier players. You did a good job explaining the reasoning behind things (X did Y because of Z) which I think is ideally suited to casting replays. The "high energy" style of Tobi is great for catching the excitement of a live competitive game, but if you decide to focus more on a "Learning with Love is Dead" theme I think you could really appeal to people getting into the game and wanting to learn. What do you think?

As you go higher in tiers of play you have less and less people, so I am aiming to cast to mostly low/mid tier players. What I'm looking for is a broad audience. I am working towards a more high energy style since I'm interested in casting actual games rather than only casting to teach people how to play. I do love teaching people, and will continue to do so, but I also want to try and make it as a regular caster.

Ok, good to know. It seems like most of the "established" DotA2 casters adopt the high-energy play-by-play during fights, but I wonder if that is actually needed. The reason that I say this is that in RL sports the high-energy play-by-play is usually limited to radio, whereas the TV "casters" are usually much more reserved. I don't know if there is a psychological reason, be it the demographic or culture around eSports, but is this something that you have thought about?

DotA is different from regular sports because it is so immensely complex. Its important to cast what is happening play by play because there is so much information coming through the screen that it is often difficult to really understand everything that is happening, so experienced casters pick out the important information and relay it to you. If no one said anything I would just assume that some shit went down and now some dudes are dead.

In sports its a little redundant to repeat what everyone can plainly see, but in DotA the average person probably can't process everything that is happening. A lot of the time I'll think a teamfight is going the way of one side, whereas Tobi is announcing the opposite, and he is right.

Admittedly I watch a very limited number of games. Up until a few weeks ago the number was probably below 10. I don't have all the time in the world to play and i feel like a decent knowledge of the game is required to really get something out of watching VOD's, otherwise I find myself constantly needing to look up abilities and items and see what they do (which is why I think Dota2's spectator mode is absolutely outstanding).

So I started watching a lot recently and not knowing where to start I've just been watching yours! Haha. The games I'd seen previously were mostly tournament games with Tobi and a co-caster whose names I usually had never heard of before (a sin, I know!) and I gotta say your doing a great job man. I'm also seeing your name pop-up all over the place I think it's safe to say your on the road to being DotAFamous!
