Perhaps we could have a few social accounts (Twitter, myspace, facebook, pinterest....) for dotanoobs.
Also, binaryatrocity said the board might get used for events only soon. I am against, perhaps we could have forums for the derivatives of Dota and Dota 2 (also no dota 1 board exists)? A Steam Community I think would go extremely well. |

You are putting words in my mouth. I just meant I don't see much of a use for the forum beyond organizing Events, which is something we hope to get rolling again here soon (it was invaluable for our Brawl in the Family 2013 Tournament and our recent D&D Campaign).
That doesn't mean I will remove general forums and the like, I will just probably consolidate it down a bit (no need for Coaching and Drafting forums etc, that can all just be Dota2 forum category). The front page (outside of the board, just dotanoobs.com) will link your Steam, ABXD, and Teamspeak accounts together, so that is already done. The board is just not a priority for me as I am actively working on the mainsite and some Teamspeak background stuff. The board is here if we need/want to use it and functioning properly. All of that said, I wouldn't mind this board being a little more active, especially since it gives us a sense of community outside of the Teamspeak server. I just see working on things for TS or the mainsite to be more important for the community as a whole, and hopefully driving traffic to the website is enough to convince a few folks to use the board and post regularly. I don't see us ever becoming as popular as official Acmlm site back in the day though ![]() |

Never you could get as big as THAT mate!
![]() Good to merge in one forum, actually. What's your thoughts on having some forums for games based off Dota (as you said in the what is dota thread). Also, there's a forum called DotaNoobs Discussion which can mean the same as this (discussion of the board) although that might refer to the teamspeak server also... |

General Discussion was for general things, like politics or the weather. DotaNoobs discussion was for topics relating directly to this site/community. Dota forum was for the game itself. Yes there is a lot of redundancy there which is why I think pairing it down a bit is a good idea.
All in good time ![]() |

Sounds like a reasonable approach. Fewer forums to consolidate the sprinkling of activity would likely be a user experience improvement.

Yeah, I am working on some changes to the front-page site to help facilitate us running events again (in-houses, non-dota game nights, etc). Once that stuff is in a state ready for release I will be chopping up the Categories on the board to pair it down, and adding a forum for Custom Games!
Thanks for your input, always appreciated. |
