I think it´s long past time I said hello here! I am a real life friend of Ranshin, and so I have played a little bit with some of you guys. I live in Iceland and stay in Sweden during my summer vacation so I can play very smoothly on EU and with quite decent ping on US East.

I am a League of Legends veteran, but I abandoned that game some time ago due mostly to lack of creativity from the developers. I have found out about DotA 2 beta after the International ended, and I have been following the proscene since then, as well as watching some pro players´ livestreams. I have recently acquired a betakey and have played a small amount of MM games as well as a decent amount of bot games to familiarize myself with the mechanics.

I kinda know my way around most of the basics, I am familiar with most heroes although I can only play a small bunch of them. I don´t like playing matchmaking solo anymore because that draws all of my attention towards making the right choices and not screwing up and failing the team, and basically takes the "fun" out of the gameplay (which is something I do want to have when I spend my time playing videogames). Joining games as a team also makes it possible to pull some whacky but legit strats and to dick around. I also am willing to learn from experienced people, and I am looking forward to playing with friendly people who don´t flame me, or wish cancer upon me or allegedly sleep with my mother.

Overall I look forward to playing more MM with you guys and learning the mechanics and the heroes, and when I feel I have a solid grasp on the game, I would like to join some in-house games (I feel like draft mode is where this game ultimately shines).

And I know what you mean about solo queue... if there really is no one about to play I usually fire up a co-op bot game and force myself to learn a new hero. Invoker has been my focus for the past week or so... a lot of fun if you have not tried!

Oh yeah, tried Invoker a couple of times, definitely a challenge to handle him!

Welcome aboard! I personally think in-houses are better for learning than MM. That way you know there are 9 people who wont flame you for sucking, and 4 others on your team and on Mumble that can give you advice and tell you what to do if your struggling. It's one of the reasons I love randoming during in-houses because if I happen to get someone I've never played, I have a team of people to get me up to speed and i think that's a great way to learn new heroes.
