Anyone else making their way through Dark Souls? I'm currently in Anor Londo and have been grinding for a bit (got to the giant blacksmith around lvl 45 and am now about 55). I'm trying to get some upgrades for my sword (Lightening Iato +1) and reinforce my armor (mostly the black knight armor).

Anyone else beat it/working their way through it?

I played the shit out of the XBox version. Beat it a few times. Can't remember when i had that much fun.

I am not sure if I am going to pick up the PC, or wait for the DLC on the Xbox. I can only assume the community would have a much longer life on the PC. It is and has been my favorite game in a very long time. If you are in Anor Londo, i would suggest the Painted World! Its pretty fun, and there is an invasion in there.

I would really recommend playing the game through as a human, it adds alot to the game. I missed alot the first time around because of it.

I actually felt pretty under leveled and backtracked to the Undead Asylum for a bit (tried to kill that demon under the floor....didn't work). I found the painted doll and destroyed that world and netted somewhere around 50K souls in the process. I did defeat the invading knight and chose to fight the boss. I think my weapon is woefully under powered though and my shield sucks. I went thief build (first time through) and realized that this was a mistake.

I've seen the Xbox version and have the PC version. PC just look amazing with the patch. The updated textures make a huge difference.

Yeah, i would say the Thief build is pretty tough for the first time around, but so satisfying when you can kill most things in 1 hit! Backstabbing and Parrying is awesome! Bosses Hard Master Key awesome!

If you killed the chica in the Painted World, i believe you can use her soul to build a bad-ass dagger...Priscilla Dagger I believe? I think its supposed to be one of the best in the game.

If i was going to get it on the PC, i think I would need to get a Wireless XBox controller adapter, I heard playing on the Keyboard is awful.

Yeah, I'd highly recommend looking up a boss soul guild if you're weapons are under powered. I forget which ring you can get early but I recall there was one that was of crazy use and pretty easy to get.. let me research and get back with you.

Nice! I have Quaalog's soul, but I'm not sure if I should use it to make Quaalog's Fury. Is that going to be better than my Lightening Iato?

I think on my first character, i used the Winged Spear I found in the graveyard at the beginning of the game, and upgraded it to scale with my Int. I want to say the modifiers that scale with your own stats are the best. Lighting is pretty powerful though.

I was never a big fan of Qualeogs Fury...or however you spell it....I never had that much Humanity to have it be very effective.

Yeah, I usually run around with 4 or 5 humanity, and my dex is around 26-27 and Fury (screw spelling) gives a B dex buff. I'm thinking of going that route, since I think fire will work out better than lightening (at least against the Anor Londo boss) and the Lightening cancels the dex buff of the iato.

I feel like whenever I get a decent amount of Humanity, i get murdered by someone invading :/

Then again, if you make it and don't like it, its not a huge loss. I say just go for it.

Think it was this guy. Nothing crazy but it saved my life more than once. Just a heads up it will not stop an attack from 1 hitting you but is very useful when a fight goes south and you try to make a run for it.

I've never seen or heard about this game in my life that I can recall. I love RPG's. Post a video that will sell me on it!

Well I just finished building the Furysword and it's doing double the damage that my Lightening Iato was. I have around 30 dex now and 4 or 5 humanity. I think I was hitting the silver knights in Anor Londo for 140 damage with a +3 Furysword. I'm definitely enjoying it. I'm about to kill the giants before the white smoke, but just got revenge for the Fire Keeper.




I also finished the painted world (unfortunately didn't get the tail), but I did net like 50K+ souls from the world, including killing the invading fire King.



 binaryatrocity Dark Souls is AWESOME. It's pretty difficult, but really rewarding. Dying is commonplace, but I've only felt I had a cheap death once or twice (fuck those archers in Anor Londo).

So I think I will use the opening cinematic to say why I like this game:

So what I love about this opening cinematic is that you will go to all of the places and meet most of the people in the video. For example, you will have to fight Nito and his army of undead. You will meet the Witches daughters of Chaos and see how the flame has corrupted them. Gwyn will try and tear you down thoughout the game, his army of Black Knights are spread thought the world, they are deadly, and they will kill you, because they are better then you. Even the Furative Pigmy mentioned in the intro, has relavance. Dragons? yup this game has them, and they are difficult. You will need to hunt down Seath the Scaless and steal his soul. Think that demon is going to be hard? Yup he is a mother F*kin demon, of course he will be. You cant just charge in, you will die.

The scale and grandure of these things are awesome, and your character starts out awful. Seriously your guy is terrible at the beginning, but you can get just as awesome as all of these things in the video. You will be storming castles, and fighting Gargoyles 3x your size, and they will murder you because they are fucking bad ass gargoyles that breathe fire. When you beat them as a lowly peon its pretty satisfying, and you did it because of your skill. Then when you meet them later in the game, they are just common enemies, and you will kill them, because you are a bad ass at that point. You will laugh at how hard they seemed, then you will get slapped in the face by a different enemy/challenge. The atmosphere and enemies work very well together. There is actually alot of Lore to the game, but it doesn't tell you that, you have to figure it out for yourself.

So i am just going to stop here as I am sure i am just Rambling at this point. Obviously I love this game. It doesn't hand you anything you have to earn everything, and you will feel better for it.

Finally beat the game a few days ago (most of the DLC too, it's really tough). It was really fun! I ended up ditching my Quelaag Furysword for a pretty powerful weapon you get in the DLC (gets an A rank in dex, which I had 40 of at the time). Gwyn was pretty tough, but once I got the timing down, parrying him was pretty easy (maybe took 4-5 parries). I still think my character was pretty weak, but I was able to finish!

I started NG+ and am flying through it. Everything has more health and does more damage, but since I know the mechanics now, it's not too bad. Also, everything gives 3x the amount of souls. I think once I ring both bells I'm going to spend a fair amount of time just running around doing everything I missed the first time.

It took me maybe 90 minutes to ring the first bell on NG+, this includes defeating all black knights along the way, as well as the knight that gives you Havel's ring at the bottom of the tower (now I have 2, wear all the armor!!). I was even able to beat the twin golems without solitaire's help. Also, I found you can save solitaire if you join the Chaos Covenant and give her like 30 humanity. Going to have to do it this time!

The depth of this game is crazy, if you dont look at any FAQ's you miss so much stuff. It also has some pretty good lore.

Yeah, the lore makes the game. Fighting the corrupt Knight Artorias was awesome. However, one of the best parts was in the DLC. When it comes out, replay the game, but do the DLC before you fight Sif. That's all I'll say on that.

I think now that I'm on my second play through I'm going to spend more time in human form and drop more summon signs to help people out. I'm also probably going to start a new game with a new class. I might do warrior or pyromancer. If I'm feeling crazy, I'll do deprived.

It is dota. Just a harder version of it. Dota's hard, Dark Souls is harder.
