I am a happy man. Just restarted Steam and the Big Picture option showed up after an update, and I have to say it is really really cool. I use my TV a lot with a remote and controllers and being able to switch between say Worms and Orcs Must Die when I have people over drinking without needing to put down the controller is absolutely awesome.
The "first-person" web browser was really cool and easy to use, just seemed to take a while to load Reddit (the ultimate sin). The store seemed really buggy as well but the layout was there so you can see how it would potentially work and I must say I am impressed. Now I can't even say "I'm watching TV and my phone is charging over there" to get out of the latest Steam Sale! And the typing will take a little getting used to but in my one and only message to fallenelf86 I managed to type pretty fast, its a very nice interface. GO CHECK IT OUT. Console kids beware, there is now absolutely nothing better about your weapon of choice lol. |

Man, Big Picture is pretty awesome. I have my comp hooked up to my TV in my living room via a long HDMI cable and USB extender. Unfortunately, the USB hub I purchased didn't come with a power supply (bullshit) so I can't actually keep a controller plugged in. Big Picture made it so I barely need my wireless mouse and keyboard.
Only downside, if you get a steam pop-up, i.e. a key code or something, you need your mouse. I also had a reddit message reminder after I exited a game that also made me switch to mouse and keyboard. All in all though, it's awesome! |

I really like their controller based keyboard (Xbox live should take notes) and it seemed super smooth. My guess is that they are going to get into movies and tv shows here in the next year. Would be awesome if they added support for media play directly from Steam. If they added that I think I would ditch my XBOX for my tv media device in a heartbeat. |

It took my buddy 6 months to convince me to finally hook my comp up to my tv. I did it like 2 months ago and haven't touched my xbox since. Having a wireless mouse and keyboard on hand also helps a lot. |

If you buy a TV tuner card for your PC you can use it like a DVR it is pretty awesome. And yeah the keyboard typing is great. Remember it's still in Beta so all these issues with having to use keyboard/mouse should go away.
Sometimes when i exit a game the whole Steam is just black with white text and i cant really see anything, and opening up the Steamchat via controller while in game freezses games sometimes, but I'm sure all those kinks will get worked out eventually. |
