Ive been playing Dota 2 for about 3-4 weeks, with a total of 40 hours clocked. I primarily play agilit heroes, mainly Riki, Bounty Hunter, and Anti-Mage. Looking forward to playing with you guys!

Great to meet ya AugDawg! Welcome to the community. Do you have any previous MOBA and/or RTS experience? Tell us a bit about your gaming history!

Dota 2 is my first MOBA. However, I do have some Age of Mythology (RTS) expierience from back in the day but that's about it.

That's way cool, what drew you to DOTA? Did you research it, and sign up for a key specifically to play or did a friend tell you about it?

I never played DotA, and a friend told me about Dota 2. I thought it looked cool at the time, so I signed up for the beta. Then, a couple weeks ago, I just got an invite out of the blue!

I never spent more then a few hours on AoM but it was made by Ensemble Studios right? Age of Empires II basically sums up my entire middle-school life.

Welcome AugDawg! I actually lanned some AoE Conquerors a few months back with 7 other friends - 4v4 ... that game is so fun. AoM was really fun too, although I wasn't a huge fan of AoE III.

I saw AoE III on Steam all the sudden, I've never played. Is it not worth the effort? I did play Rise of Nations and that was a pretty awesome RTS.

I've never played Rise of Nations, so I can't make any comparisons, but AoE III just wasn't for me. Maybe it was the mythic/medieval aspects to the earlier games that was so appealing, or the fact that I just grew up playing AoE II so it's very nostalgic for me. You may try it and find that you like it though.

I'd urge you to give Rise of Nations a try. It did expand into modern-day but you could set a limit so I'd usually have gunpowder be the last age before its over. It was just like AoE II except there was a "territory" factor where your buildings added the land around them to your territory, and enemy troops would suffer attrition etc.

It was pretty good for LAN, I used to play AoEII Conquerors on MSN Gaming Zone all day long haha.

I was never much into Age Of Empires, but I *LOVED* Rise of Nations. With the expansion they released - it was as close as one could get to a perfect RTS imo.

I wish they'd release a sequel to it someday.

They did release a second game, Rise of Legends, it was the Age of Mythologies of the series (more magic fantasy stuff) which I'm not opposed too at all I just never tried the game. Maybe we should all find a copy and play a few games haha.
