Hi!
I'm commonly known as Proxymate on the internets. I play a lot of Dota 2, WC3 maps, TF2 and a lot of other games. My first experience with the DotA genre was HoN, which I started playing in early closed beta (of HoN, not Dota 2). With time I stopped playing HoN, but when the Dota 2 beta was announced it caught my interest. Got my beta-invite around the Warlock patch and have been playing semi-regularily ever since. Got short of 300 games played of Dota 2. Apart from playing games I'm studying musicology, playing the bass, composing, trying to keep up with two geeky juggling hobbies (contact and yo-yoing) and singing in an academic men's choir. I came to this site to play in games which I hope is free from all the whining I see in allchat. Mostly to have someone nice to play with when my friends aren't on. |

The only recorded Pudge game on my account. I never play Pudge, but if I do, it's a random (which means I always get an early bottle). Was up to a good killstreak in that game thanks to the wonderful self-deny mechanic. |

Fast-paced ubercompetetive FPS. Lots of twitchy aiming, unique fast movement, great foundation for user generated content, open beta (+ I have two spare purchase codes or w/e they're called). Basically fun times. Would want to play with doobs.

Posted by binaryatrocity http://www.shootmania.com/ - linkage for the lazy. Haven't heard a dang thing about this. Have you been playing it already Proxymate? Been playing it on and off for some time. Bought a three-pack back in closed beta, but the friends I was going to share it with already bought it themselves, so I have two codes left. The game has great potential. |

I rarely listen to music when I dotes, but when I do, it's mostly a mix between modern Norwegian jazz and classical music (a lot of choral music). I also listen to musical comedy, mainly by Flight of the Conchords or Jon Lajoie. Sometimes I'll turn on some cheesy 80's pop for giggles.
But yeah, mostly modern Norwegian stuff or classical. Examples: http://open.spotify.com/track/3Cv1DSrLRFKzxBesp9RPeu http://open.spotify.com/track/0YUx7MaORwFcPy7GYRx5Eb http://open.spotify.com/track/4xoVH4zMu4TjjJ4FLh7h6G http://open.spotify.com/track/6zXRZUdYuyqJVEQ3xE6FUc Norway has some of the most creative and innovative Jazz-musicians in the World. The sad part is that most of the people here don't know that. |

This game is some outsourced collaboration mess. Much like Duke Nukem Forever.

I bought this late 2011 IIRC. Amazingly fun game. Love all the stuff they thought of with the modern civbuilder game. It's basically Anno, but with more stuff you have to care about such as underwater resources and the health of the planet.
As an Anno fan from 1602 this game was a lot of fun for me, haven't played it in ages though. |

2.5D shooter of some sorts. Made by the guys who did Magicka. 10 euros on Steam. Full of action-movie tropes. Lots of good quote. Lots of fun.
Pretty much been waiting for the site to get back up so I could post and tell people to buy this game. Dirt cheap, it takes like 5 hours tops to unlock all the weapons and characters. |

The game isn't horribly buggy really (there's no real huge gamebreaking bugs). The only really big problem is the fact that there's no server structure. At the moment they are working on dedicated servers, but for now suboptimal ping is just something we have to live with.

I'll wait a while before buying this game. Spent all my money on trains and beer during easter. Pretty much broke now. Hoping I can catch it on sale sometime like I did with the other bioshock games.
Apart from issues with Nvidia this game seems to have got nothing but good words. I've seen reviewers toss out stuff like "better than the original bioshock", which means a LOT. Pretty much gonna have to buy this once money comes in. |

It's a console playing on the strength of a free market and low costs. I'm noe going to buy one, but I can see why people would want to.

Heard a lot of mixed reactions to this game. Not going to pay money for it simply because I'm not really in the mood to pay money for an MMO right now.

Ah, it's this time of the year. It's almost time for the annual shitty music fest / drinking game. About a month until the finals kick off, I'm already planning for the 18th of may. Going to do it big this year. We're talking big projection screen and two crammed refrigerators.
Norway is going for the "hot chick with modern song" deal this year. I doubt it will win, but I don't think it will be as catastrophic as some of our previous attempts. I also heard that the UK will be sending Bonnie Tyler, which is interesting. |

Yeah the Norwegian song this year is written by a swede.

Posted by BearHug We seem to be pretty good at writing ESC songs You most definitely are. Not sure if it's something to be proud of or not. EDIT: Posted by Gambit Here's the Danish song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k59E7T0H-Us It sounds... suprisingly Irish. Known and Shane I better not find out you've infiltrated the Danish camp. Irish culture has pretty much spread to the rest of the world through alcohol. You can be in mid-sized city in Spain 12 AM on a Monday, and there will be a full Irish pub somewhere. There was also a windmachine, in most drinking game rulesets that means you have to drink. No cheesy modulation though. |

The prize is pretty much just glory, and then there's the part about having to spend money to host the thing next year.
Some countries do it in slightly different ways, but the norm is voting through a song and then that song goes to the international fest. Pretty much every country in Europe participates in this, I think even San Marino does this year. The contest has also changed a lot through the years. Before 1973, all songs had to be in an official language of your own country. Back in those days there was an official orchestra that played all the music live. Now, all instrumentals are pre-recorded, which makes the thing a mimefest for instrumentalists. The fun part is that the vocals must be performed live. This combination often creates a lot of cringe-worthy sining (shot-worthy if you happen to play the drinking game). Some artists have poked fun at the fact that all instrumentals had to be pre-recorded. Austria did this in 2003 when they put comedian Alf Poier on stage with paper cut-outs of animals playing instruments (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZJt6Gv4XPk). Note that this amazing piece of comedy placed 6th. The typical Eurovision song is either a strong ballad or an overglamorous europop-abomination, most of the time with a cheesy modulation at the end. In later years, it has also become a culture to send girls showing a lot of skin. Showing national traditions is also a thing. You win this thing with show, not with good singing. Another thing that helps in getting points is being from eastern Europe. Neighbouring countries tend to vote for eachother, which creates some imbalances as what used to be Yugoslavia, is now like 6 different countries. That's pretty much the rundown of how this contest goes down. Despite all the obvious flaws this contest has, I highly suggest watching it (the thing gets livestreamed). It's a cultural abomination you have to see to believe. It also lets you catch the next epic sax guy as soon as it happens. Here's something to give you a taste of the contest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4nJcmLMb5to - Last years winner. Pretty catchy eurodance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WXwgZL4zx9o - As a Norwegian I have to post this. Current record-holder for most points. THe winning formula of combining national traditions with an artist of Belarus descent. This guy is an educated violin virtuoso, he also happens to be a terrible pop-musician. Also pyrotechnics http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juaaUoH-3LM - This is a weird reggaeton parody song, note the dancer falling at some point http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECyeUYsU14E - I had to do this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2JlE-z-hpA - This is an obscure gem from 1973, the first year in which everyone could sing in English. Also from the era where every instrument had to be played live. This ORIGINAL EPIC SAX GUY is stuck on playing the tambourine, so he tries to make the best of the 20 seconds of solo he gets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gAh9NRGNhUU - Also from Finland. This is self-explanatory. See how the title of the video says "Winner"? Yeah. TLDR: Lots of stuff that shouldn't be in music. |
