Anyone else pick this one up? I had read absolutely nothing about it, barely even knew it was being developed until I saw it pop up as "Available" on Steam the other day.
It started pretty slow and the combat was kinda boring but I'm about half-way through and it's picked up a bit with some battles I've had to do over and think about a few times. Combat is queue-based (semi-turn based, you can pause and assign actions) and I love tactical games like that so maybe I'm trying to like it more than I should heh. The story is pretty awesome though, feels very Martinesque. You play as two characters, a ranger from Castle Black and a red priest who recently returned to his home in Lannister territory, who had fought together during Robert's Rebellion and haven't seen each other since. It definitely isn't as bad as all the reviews I've since read make it out to be, but you bet your ass the price on this one will drop quick because of that, so don't make the mistake I did and pay $50 for it, I'd at the least wait for Steam's epic Summer Sale. |

Martin is one of the best Fantasy writers I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Besides the latest book, I've read the other four at least 3 times over, and each time you notice new little things.. it's amazing. If you haven't read the books I highly suggest you get on it. And the main focus of the story IS the STORY. Early on the combat is almost boring and you jsut want to back out and learn more about what's going on in the world. |
