Hello all, I saw the post on reddit...suprised?....and so I figured I would hop over here! I have played a bit of LoL in my time, however that was 1+ years ago, so I am not even sure if that counts at this point. I picked up DoTA2 recently, and I have been loving it. I have always enjoyed a healing/support role, and felt as though I was getting pretty good with Dazzle. Then I heard that Dazzle is considered OP and looked down upon by the community, so i have been trying to branch out. I am not married to the support role, but it just seems like a solid way to learn the game.

I am at work, but I figured over the weekend I would install Mumble.

I am just hoping to learn some more about this game, get better, and play with some fun people!

If you want to add me on Steam, its the same handle, so feel free.

Hello.

I don't know if Dazzle is really considered OP. He's really good, but you should play what you like though branching out is always good. I mean, people think Morphling is OP and broken, but that's why there are picks and bans!

I played LoL as well, was the first dota-type game I played. It helps a lot more than just being new to it all, but the biggest difference is how snowball-style heroes fall off pretty hard late game. There is also the fact towers deal less damage than in LoL, so you aren't always safe under the tower depending on the heroes coming to gank you. Beware of Bane + Earthshaker! If anything, you can choose to random in bot games to learn about different characters without the stress of other players calling you names. The bots in DotA2 are pretty hard to fight against in unfair mode when it comes to last hitting and whatnot, so its pretty good practice (as opposed to LoL's bots that are just there for win of the day).

So I have played DoTA2 for about....50 hours so far? But I still feel like a noob, probably one of the few games that follows those lines!

I do really need to work on my last hits/denies i am pretty bad at timing them. I have recently tried Disruptor a bit, and I like his mechanics, so i have been enjoying him.

DotA has a lot of intricacies that are hard to explain. It all comes from experience. I've been playing DotA2 for a year and HoN for like 2 years, and I am still pretty bad at some stuff! haha

Last hitting is such a huge deal tho, at least if you are trying to last hit deny as a support. Sometimes I am lucky the people I play with can do denies while I do the harass.

Hey zap_brannigan456 welcome to DotaNoobs! Dazzle was one of the first supports I ever tried and I love him, plus he makes a great combo with my main man Huskar. Other favorites on the support chain are Lich/Wisp/Shadow Shaman.

Hope to see you around this weekend so I can see your Dazzle in action.

A fellow support player? Awesome:P

The best thing you can do when you're first starting is to try every hero at least twice. I remember when I was at only 50 hours and you already seem way ahead of me! I barely knew what I was doing half of the time. In fact, I think I'm at about 350 now and I still barely know what I'm doing.

Looking forward to a few games this weekend!
