Hey all, i'm Spong, a gamer from Cape Town South Africa, looking to jam some games and mentor/coach low to mid level players.

I started playing DotA around 7 years ago, in my second year of high school. It and games like Warcraft 3 and CS 1.6 were the staple of many afternoons at the local internet cafe, in an age before the common access to high speed internet we all currently enjoy. I have played sporadically since then, also dabbling with WoW and pretty much every Call of Duty Title since #2. I acquired a key a few few months ago, and am excited at the opportunity this community provides to get involved with inhouse games and coaching.

I'd be happy to mentor people on the more basic micro aspects of the game, including important factors such as - Role assignment and balance, item builds, laning strategies, skill builds, creep score(last hits/ deny/ jungling), map awareness, rune control, pushing, ganking, warding, roshing, etc etc etc.

My main area of interest in dota however is the metagame, and the complex analysis of what is essentially a situational game. It is important for low/mid level players to move beyond the prescribed builds and recommended items, and to understand the deeper layers of thinking and understanding of the mechanics which impacts decisions and play at higher levels of the game. Macro skills can include - picking/banning, enemy and game analysis, and a general deeper examination of all heroes, items and skills from a critical perspective.

I have experience in tutoring (RL!) and currently coach a few of my newer friends at the game, all of whom i'm sure would be happy to provide a decent reference. Keep an eye on the "Coaching Sessions" subsection for some up and coming coaching, and feel free to express your interest in mumble or in this thread if you'd like a few pointers
