Hello, i'm Admiral Snuffles. I don't have an admiral's hat, I hope that won't impede first impressions.
I started playing Dota2 a few months after it's initial release, joined a clan (eXe) and continued casually for a fair length of time. Afterwards, my schedule became too chaotic, so I unfortunately had to bid them farewell and focus on my activities on stage - my other love besides DotA. Little has changed in the months since then, although the burning desire to be shouted at by angry strangers and the likelihood of buying more wards than sense resurfaced. At this point, the hero of our tale looked to find new adventurers to share his escapades with - and after a brief encounter with a friendly member of your temple, in which many DotA themed Yo-mama jokes were cracked (Yo mama so horny, even Skeleton King's reincarnate isn't enough/ Yo mama so ugly, Pudge eats himself) Bandit kindly pointed me towards DotANoobs. I have experience in most aspects of the game, including but mot limited to; - Solo suicide - Jungling - Flailing around as a panicky CM - Overbearing victorian Broodmother - Permaricing Lone Druid - Greenpeace Timbersaw Nice to meet you all! Ad. Snuffles Edit: Somehow in my haste at attempted sudo-wit, I seem to have skimmed over some the usual facts. I'm 23 and from England. |

This absolutely made my day, a rare find.
I imagine there should be a post in there mentioning the empty Russian server, alongside a post which details the numerous other servers containing large-scale Russian gibberish and heated trolling. I think the best terms in which i've heard Dota2 described in true form is the following; "Dota2 is much like landing a hot date with someone who is stunning, intelligent, wiity, has a great sense of humour and shares many great qualities with you - Then finding out that they have the clap". |

Koilin, you old Dutch sea dog! Glad to see you hopped aboard the DotaNoobs herotrain too.
Fantastic to be playing alongside an old teammate again - descend on TeamSpeak like a tramp on chips and we'll be crushing egos at a moderately sub-par level together again. A very warm welcome to you! |

I can promise a ship with a command deck from which you can narrate the details of my life. What will you be narrating you may ask, well I can promise large sums of money trade hands, a lot of paperwork and shouting, as well as plenty of healthy American slang. Essentially your life is a bureaucratic drugs trade? Also, War Chariots are very in right now. Ships have a poopdeck, which I find hinders lasting relationships. |

I have a 5mill or so SP Gallente pilot in nullsec.
Running a small fleet could be good fun - plenty of booty out there for those with the stones to search for it. |

I have a bunch of invites to spare, approach the steam of Snuffles so that we may barter as venturing tycoons.
Also, I have no-one to give them to. |

Ha. I read the post before reading the author and the reflex thought was 'that was something eXe (the clan/community Koilin and I originated from) did'.
From my experiences so far, Koilin - there aren't set teams outside of larger scale tournament events here at the DoobFactory. However, I find that this generally means that this generally means that most people of similar MMR/W-L ratios have played together or at least know each other. To be rather honest with you, I find this method proliferates a much better community mentality, rather than having set teams with whom you would play with for 2 hours twice a week and then, shuffle along by yourself for matchmaking. Also - it saves any matter of whining wherein the teams are lopsided, or members feel better than each other, or conversely, like they are a hinderance to their permanent team. |

Posted by binaryatrocity We ARE working on a League system within the next month here where you would form a team with other Doobs for 2-4 months and practice together while competing to reach the top of the ladder (all teams will play each-other). Once the season is over we'll do the whole thing all over again! Maybe this will satisfy your urge to practice with a team and play semi-competitively! Upvoted. Wholeheartedly support such a venture, so long as it doesn't limit current doobs from playing with other teams, outside of the league setting. |

Stumbled across this game on steam. Seems rather worthwhile in a senseless cartoon violence manner of speaking.
Anyone have experience with this game? Good purchase or tasteless timesink? |

This is a fantastic initiative, an effective way to pass on the wealth of information that Dota requires from experienced players onto learning members.
I'm happy to lend my help as a Mentor if Uno, Fallen and ATLAS would like an extra hat on the stand. I had been loosely tussling with the idea of setting up a new players event on a weekly/fortnightly schedule to help newer players cover some of the very basics and allow them to jump into general matchmaking with other Doobs so enjoyment of this rather smashing community can continue to rise! By basics I would be referring to: - The theory behind who farms and why - How to Jungle - Purposes of roles within the game (Carrying, Supporting... etc.) - Where/when/how to ward and why (And rune control for midlaners) - Dealing with common problems like stealth heroes - The thought processes 'what does my team need?' when picking heroes. - Some of the usefull tidbits of information players pick up over time (Why can Ursa lvl1 Rosh? Why can't I find their campblock ward? Why do Veno/Jugger lanes always stomp my face?) This is something i'd be aiming at for players with very little experience, who might feel too daunted by Matchmaking (or the breed of player they might be paired with) or feel too ill-advised about the game to join in with other DotaNoobs members to wreck up the internet. Thoughts? |

You glorious bastard. You took my mind words and made them written words to be read aloud in your Admiral Kunkka-lite accent. We aim to please! I would think starting basics by actually playing a game through could be somewhat kill or cure. What I had envisioned is something I used to do for the SC2 Division in my old clan (eXe), whereby we would discuss tactics/strategies before a game and then attempt to implement them in a game straight afterwards. I can see the same principle working here, whereby we can talk about how a person can midlane, when wards need to be up, etc - and then you play a game or two against each other armed with your new knowledge. Some of the best strategies i've had have been cooked up from just talking through theories with various other Doobs before we started a game, then trying something a little more off-the-wall than usual. The key thing i'm trying to accomplish, and I think Fallen and Uno are trying to accomplish here are to get newer players more comfortable in the game in general, to the point where you might be able to access certain situations by yourself and figure out what went wrong, how you could avoid the same problem happening again (And so on). Put within a frame it might look something like this: 1. Quick overlook on warding 2. Ideas on current view of how/where to ward 3. Discuss improvements 4. Put it into practice on the battlefield. |

Posted by Migglypuff Under 150 wins, still new. Under 250, still noob. Over these numbers, we'll talk . jk Fantastic. I'm going to milk my noob status for all its worth, prepare for questions! It's such an odd concept to me that DotA is a game where 400+ hours played can still mean you're new. Not that I'm complaining and I'm still laughably bad at SC2 despite how much I used to play that. Questions are a fantastic thing here, so don't we worried about feeling like you might be pestering. Keep in mind that we intend to keep these little learning opportunities as a regular thing, so if you think of a moot point after the time is up, there's always next week (or feel free to message one of us, if it can't wait). The thought behind all of this is equip you, as much as we're able, to be out there crushing skulls and ruffling feathers to the best of your abilities. Posted by Skyop Sweet Echo. I think we should have at least a tentative plan by the time we get there so anyone have any thoughts on what to do? I like the Q&A time but it would be hard to direct and keep all the players involved. If we had enough players, we could do a Q&A then break off into two teams and practice that way. Then we will be sure to have newbies vs. newbies. Anything else? Don't worry about that Skyop, we've already got a steady plan in motion as to how we can structure the sesion. All you need to do is turn up, questions at the ready, and be prepared to punch the internet in the name of Doob. I'd also like to echo what Fallen's already said about this weeks topic - supporting. I'm sure you all have plenty of questions regarding other aspects of the game, but during this team try to keep it to what we've said. Anything other than that, feel free to contact FallenElf, UnoPolak, Admiral Snuffles or Shane and we'll be happy to help you outside of our timeslot. I'd also like to request that you come to the session with an open slate - that is to say, some of the things we'll chat about may contradict your current view on the game. We'll be happy to justify our various choices, however. Posted by fallenelf86 Posted by Migglypuff Sorry guys, I've been awol from the forums for a while (I forgot they were back up). The Q&A to inhouse game sounds like a great idea, I definitely have some (probably dumb) questions to ask. You can count me in for sunday. Although, I'm not sure I still fall into the new player catagory, I would still like to participate. Under 150 wins, still new. Under 250, still noob. Over these numbers, we'll talk ![]() FOR SCIENCE! *Pipe* |

Posted by TechSupprt Can We request Snuffulopolous as our couch. Inebriated if possible so we can match wits and such. Good times.. good times. Pending on the discovery of the actual Snuffles, i'm happy to lend a hand if you need. I'm sure Fallen, Uno and Lemon are also ready to rally to the cause also. I feel it's necessary to clarify why there has been a multitude of Snuffles over the past couple days for those that missed the drunk DotA session, and the evening that led up to it. Our story begins, as most stories do, with a hero. A glorious, shining beacon of inappropriate cynicisms, an embodiment of Gin-and-Tonic cohesiveness. Alone, he stands atop a narrow plateau of TeamSpeak... Whereby he stupidly informs FallenElf of a game one used to play in one's old clan, whereby you would kick a fellow officer from said TS3 server, then highjack said officers name to force them to rejoin as something else. Foolish, foolish hero. Naturally, two Snuffles' quickly became many over the course of the following MM game, and Voila! Army of ridiculum (and Snuffles). |

If you're looking for less of a learning experience, and more of a choir of silliness, I could make myself available for a few tumbles under the preverbial streaming duvet.
Although, honestly we won't get very much work done. More likely we'll just spend time debating the finer points of butt jokes and acquiring new memes. Perhaps a learning experience after all?... |

First of all - i'm in. Going Dire Strength Vs Radiant Strength seems like an excellent way to pound your fellow clansmen into a finely viscous dust carpet. I'm aware this isn't scheduled to be another haughty drinking session of silly happenings, but I can certainly see it turning out that way - i'll plan for tall cocktails.
As for the story for HYA-KEERO... The night was dark, humid, lonely. Dusk fell down on the quiet township ahead like factory workers on a brothel, unsubtle and unending. Jakiro had never favored desert paths. The dry sand plumed up in clouds underneath the powerful, rhythmic beat of his wings, irritating Ice's scaly underside and clouding his vision. These were desperate times, and desperate times meant less conventional paths of travel. Despeate times meant sand. Ice let loose a hacking cough in frustration, instinctively stretching a stunted claw at his scaly belly. "Don't think about it" snapped Fire at the apparent show of weakness from his brother. It was the same every time, his sibling could never keep his mind on the task at claw, always hunting for riches, women, particularly fine (and abundantly sized) lingerie. A black sheep in a family of slightly less black sheep, Ice had always been an outsider to most. Not to him of course, but Fire had little choice on the matter. Ice had stopped flapping. Their form lopsided as Fire wrenched himself from his thoughts. Throwing an accusing look leftward at his colder brother, he took a breath to chastise him, but was quickly silenced by a short icy burst of mist from Ice. Then he saw it. Smoke rising from the hill behind the sleepy town, a warning pillar to the heavens for all to see. "Finally, we've caught up" Fire glinted into the distance as he planned the next move. "Banditos" Spat Ice, their name a plague in glorious España. The town flapped ever closer... TBC |
