I know how to edit videos and have started working with After Effects recently, but I need a bit more time until I am able to get to a more professional level of production quality. If you give me 2-3 weeks, I'll make you a nice Dota Noobs intro.

|
Karma: 100 Posts: 3/37 Since: 01-13-13 Last post: 3541 days Last view: 3157 days |
Okay, so this is a good omelette recipe I devised after many years of research into getting intoxicated with alcoholic beverages. We all know how difficult the morning after is, mornings where you ponder on life's more difficult questions "Who is this girl I woke up next to?" "Why does she have a penis?", "How did I end up in a hotel 200 km away from where I live?", "Why am I wearing women's lingerie?" ... truly the questions which many great minds have puzzled over.
So, in that troubled and dazed state of hangover you need something good and nutritious to help you get your shit together, and since you ain't going to cook no damn elaborate meal, a simple omelette will have to do. Ingredients: 3 eggs 100 ml coconut milk (normal milk works well too) 50 g lin/flax seeds (optional) 50 g psyllium seeds / bran / anything high in fiber (pretty important) 100 grams of sausage, salami cut into small pieces (if you're too fucking hungover to use a knife, just shove the fucking thing full) Put it all in a cup, mix with a fork until homogeneous. Put some butter or olive oil in a pan, spread that bitch, then heat it up. When decently heated up shove the omelette mix in and cook for 5 minutes on medium heat, flip the fucking thing over and cook for 2-3 minutes. If you're too pissed to even flip a pan (holy shit man, what did you drink last night?) just cook for 10 minutes on one side. Eat. Meal should have around 400~500 calories depending on what you use, lots of protein, fat and moderate amounts of simple carbohydrates (and very high amounts of fiber). Cheers. |

Posted by PyrionFuckingFlax I use fraps to record videos. Then upload overnight to youtube since my incredibly shitty internet is about 0.4 upload speed. Editing is for tryhards. If you want to upgrade your setup, I would suggest you check out: DxTory: http://dxtory.com/v2-home-en.html It's very good for recording in game footage, very customisable and video files end up quite high quality. Only downside is that it's about 40 euros. Ut Video Codec Suite: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Ut-Video-Codec-Suite A codec to use with DxTory, has RGBA, RGB, 422, 420 modes, supports multithreading and outputs very high quality files for their size. (You'll still end up with 1 GB per ~60 second of recording files though) Also, for all of you streamers on Doobs, I suggest you guys use OBS or FFsplit instead of Xsplit. Reasons: - better performance - almost the same usability - free And in regards to OBS vs FFsplit, I'd go more towards OBS since it seems to be a bit less buggy. I've tried DxTory as a capture source for OBS (instead of using OBS's built in software capture) and it seems that OBS is about 10~20% faster, but quality wise, just a bit lower. (Tried Ut Video Codec and Lagarith Lossless Video Codec) Lagarith Lossless Video Codec: http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html (about the same as Ut Video Codec in image quality, performance and compression) And when it comes to bandwidth requirements, to stream in 720p you need at least 2 Mbps upload speed. You'll be able to stream at about 1200 Kbps ~ 1400 Kbps video bitrate + 96Kbps audio bitrate. My settings are 1280x720p at 60 fps, 2800 kbps video bitrate, 128kbps audio bitrate (AAC), quality 10, veryfast preset. Quality example: http://www.twitch.tv/andrei_tv/b/372241224?t=141m00s These settings are putting my video card to work though, I'm getting an average of 70~80 fps in game (i7 2600K @ 4Ghz + HD6950) |

Looking good! I'd probably get too pissed drunk while cooking if there's any alcohol involved.
You should make your own tortillas too, they're pretty easy to make, all you need is flour, some butter, salt, bakpulver and water, and they end up tasting better than the store bought ones. |

If you have a local recording, you can add it with a video editor.
If you're uploading directly from Twitch.tv, it might be a bit tricky, you need to download your stream recording using this app: http://bashtech.net/twitch/download.php (goes through the twitch.tv api, and you can download videos from your history) then edit the intro in. Longer stream sessions are split into a multitude of files, so you have to sift through them, and they're .FLV, but you should be able to work on the using Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere. And then when you're done editing, you need to upload it to youtube yourself. On a different note, you can use OBS to just run the intro before the game you're streaming starts, and then you can use Twitch's highlight feature to select what part of the video you want to create into a highlight, then upload that highlight to youtube (this could work pretty well too). I'll add an audio track to the intro file so it's easier to use, and post a link in a couple of minutes. EDIT: Updated version with sound: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIpcTw6IWhE 720p source file (321 MB): https://mega.co.nz/#!NZQH1YxK!L1vajydAeLaae6nVAH6HvFrkf2kWXDwrtkl27E4WnwE (Needs Chrome) |

(Generated by PCPartPicker 2013-03-03 18:32 EST-0500) You should be able to play even Planetside with this config (although even my i7 with 6970 is rather slow in that game, the game is just poorly optimized). Went a little bit over, but I think this is a price-performance sweet spot. |

The Dota Noobs front page should have an area with community streams that are online, kind of like the Livestream ticker from joindota.com
The forum should also have a place where people could check out livestream status since people probably have this bookmarked/spend more time here than on the front page. Would encourage more community members to stream and probably strengthen the community. |

Here I be posting videos with my random Dota 2 fluff and my continuing video effects creation learning experience with Adobe After Effects/Premiere/Illustrator/Photoshop.
Some older random fluff videos of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fZUSoWapKQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaaNXqgc7GQ And some newer stuff: (includes a serving of Shane) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDJG1QHA8NA After Effects learning experience videos: Doobs Logo Intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIpcTw6IWhE My first time working with trapcode: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRqHM44Gh2A (thought that particle effect was cool but I still have much to learn) If anyone has any requests, I'd love to have a stab at them, I have a lot of free time on my hands and the extra work would help me learn things faster. (it's free!) I'm going to try to post a video every day, be it with new things I've learned or just fluff. My objective is to get better at this since I like video editing and I have some projects in mind. New stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5VYnolvkhuU |

Posted by UnoPolak Guide videos are something we periodically think about, it just involves a lot of work. Slowly but surely... ![]() Those were on my project list, but I was waiting until I got better at creating motion graphics to start. I think having something with nice motion graphics and good editing tremendously increases the value of that video. My projects are: - Intro to Dota 2 (w/ dota history, basics, short rundown of heroes, basically like a big ass course on dota) - Tutorial for Every Hero (self explanatory) - Dota 2 Weekly News (5~10 minute video with pro scene results and standings from tournaments and leagues, game highlights, rankings and pro team roster changes) I have the ideas lined down, all I need to do is get better at motion graphics, I want to get to the point where things look almost professional at least and start from there. |
