Hey everyone! I'm a 22 yo male and I'm from the Netherlands.

A couple of days ago I was lost in the sea of pubs, but then a ship with a familiar face came by. It was the guy that you all know as Admiral Snuffles. He told me that he joined a new community that played DotA. I did some detective work and found this promising community.

As far as ARTS (apparantly MOBA is the wrong term ) experience goes I got into the genre trough a custom map in starcraft 2. I couldn't play the original game, because a wrist of mine was heavily sprained. I found a custom map called Storm of the Imperial Sanctum. It was really fun to play it, even though I now know that it kinda sucks compared to the real games of the genre.
A while later I found out about league of legends. Played it with some friends and had fun as well (now I think it really sucks ^^), eventually (about after a year) though I got tired of it and went back to starcraft.
So then a couple of months ago I got treatment for it and had my hand in a cast. Then I saw DotA2 pop up on steam and decided to sign up for the beta. Got into it fairly quickly and started playing. Some friends I play with have played a lot of HoN and 1 of them has played the original DotA as well and is pretty knowledgable about the game. After he explained to me how the game worked and the different roles, I liked DotA even more.

So then we arrive at the current situation. Being tired of rage kids and especially of non english speaking russians, I'd really like to play with people that I can communicate with and that don't freak out on eachother as soon as someone makes a mistake. So I hope we can help eachother out here. I don't mind if someone fucks up, shit happens. Losing a game isn't the end of the world either, it's all good as long as there is something to learn from it.
Role wise I can play most things. Suicide laning and trilane I'm fairly unexperienced with. Mid is probably my best, but I kind of want to learn to play carry well.

I was wondering if anyone knows a good spot to find organised teams that play and practice together. Set practice times can be a plus, but it just have to be teams that are looking for extra members to fill up their roster.

Alright, thanks for the info. I saw a post for the team organisation, but it was in the deleted/old part I think or at least it looked like it wouldn't get finished.

I've got my hero set to F1, courier to F2. Space bar for my first slot (usually something like manta or bottle goes there), V for my second slot (often power threads or magic stick). The rest of the slots are 3,4,5 and 6. 3 is usually a mana regen item, whereas 4 often contains my most used/valuable item of the game. 5 Is where the TPs go and that's about it. Consistency in hotkeys or what you place in the slots brings some peace in the chaotic situations that may arise.

Haha yeah, well I thought Doobs didn't really do such a thing, so I was wondering if anyone here knew a good place to find a set team (not necessarily a community like eXe, which I'm not going back to ) to play with.

The plan was to find a team with more active members than people who'd only come online 2 hours twice a week. Not like the whole team should be online all the time, but usually at least some of the members can queue up for mm together.

For the feeling better or lesser than eachother, I dunno it's mainly a team thing. You just gotta hope that you're lucky enough to find the right people or at least get to know them fast enough to get a feeling if such things could happen. As for skill lvl I'd try to find a team within a certain mm skill bracket. You can see in which one you are if you go to "watch" -> "recent games" and then type your own name in the filter, when you've done this you go from the very high to the normal option untill you've found your name. It has to be a solo match though, so that other people haven't influenced your mmr for that game.
I know that even within brackets skill can still differ a lot, but as long as everyone puts a good amount of work in improving then it shouldn't matter imo

Got teamed up with 4 russians, none of them spoke english. I know not all russians are bad, but I hate those bastards that queue up for every server even if they only speak the main language of 1 with a passion. Next time I solo I'll keep it to US east.
