As we announced on Sunday, I'd like to present the Dota Noobs Logo Design Contest!

Our current logo, the old Gem of True Sight, has been awesome, but with the item updates, hero updates, and just general changes to the game, we think it's time to update our logo. Rather than spend some time trying to figure out what would work best (we're a combination of lazy and not being good at design), we wanted to reach out to our very talented and enthusiastic community of DotA and Photoshop pros.

So what are we looking for? Well, that's up to you. Submit as many entries as you want. The specs for the logos are approximately:

760x200 for the large logo above the forums.

320x115 for the smaller logo on the main webpage.

Once we've selected a winner, we'll be customizing a forum theme around it as well as fixing the site theme to match. The logos will also be used for reddit posts, the youtube channel, twitter, etc.

If you don't win, don't fret, your logo may still see the light of day. While we will only have one official logo, we will most likely take a few submissions and make alternate forum themes.

Now, I've heard people like prizes. Since this is a bit of a time intensive contest, the prize will be a bit more than an in-game item. We're not going to reveal it yet, but it's pretty cool.

Alright guys (and gals, sheilas, mates, lads, other terms), our logo is in your hands...

So for this are you looking for a finished product or just the design? I'm only asking cause I lost my photoshop disc and I dont want to steal it.

Adobe wants you to steal it trust me.

So that means that you want a finished product?

To answer your question directly. A finished product would be preferred but we'll accept a by hand rough sketch with out any issue if that's what you've got. We're not going to hold anyone back from participating just because they actually want to follow the law and not pirate PS like the rest of us outlaws. :-)

Ok I hunkered down for a few days (not just a midnight photoshop session, MULTIPLE midnight sessions) with only water and bread in a remote cave and this is what I came up with:



I'ts me, I gotta show the old Denmark some love. Oh and by the way, It's totally made by me and only me, k thx bye.

Here's everything i've come up with so far. Everything is viable for light and dark backgrounds and I could do some really great motion graphic work with anything like this. All colors/fonts/etc are easily changed.

Essem is killing it with the fifth on his list IMO. Atlas, youre a graphic designer. Step your game up son. That Shadow demon is awesome but it looks like youre using default text. Comic sans no less.

Keep in mind, using different color schemes is extremely helpful. Remember we're going to use one as the main logo for everything and 1-2 more for alternate themes, etc.

Do you mean you painted this yourself or just colored its yourself? Just want to make sure we're clear on the sources for these images to avoid future legal issues on vods and such in the future.

I did the coloration and that extra wave, not looking to cause yall some legal issues.



I started with one of the concept arts from valve proper, did some editing and painted some color and extra effects.

Awesome, yeah I don't think its gonna be a big deal but if we do put something like this on a intro to a video or something that was posted publicly we'd have to get permission from valve I believe. I doubt it would be a big deal at all but just want to cover all our bases.
