I was thinking that we might do guides on heroes or aspects of dota. This might be a fun way for us to learn new things as well as introducing new players to our community.
We should probably try to avoid subjects that already been covered by everyone else (warding, pulling, etc), so maybe specific hero guides or stuff like team compostions or item flexibility?

We will need someone to take care of the video part (light video editing, nothing too fancy) and 1-2 people to record the voice part.
I've already got some ideas on a guide to jungling Lycan post 6.75 (when the weaker wolves were introduced) and have several replays ready to be used if we want to go that route.
What are your thoughts?

Mojos Jungling Guide:

Step 1: Pick Doom
Step 2: Enter Jungle
Step 3: ??????
Step 4: Minute 60
Step 5: Profit!

On a serious note its a good idea, perhaps just picking a reply and using player perspective talk about it.

Been working on different ways to do guides, playing around with different ways to do guides to.. like a guide for jungling a certain hero, or a guide on playing a hero in general, or even game concepts like ricing or lane control 101

i put together a replay analysis with BigBoss as well im going to upload to youtube when i get a free moment.. i play too much dota.

You've got alot of insight so replay analysis or writing content for guides isnt out of the question!

Like for example your jungle doombringer guide was awesome, thats the half the job of making a video guide. Like once you have it written you know how you want the video to flow! its just either getting replays together or sitting in a inhouse lobby or practice lobby showing some things off and recording and cutting them, throw in some infographics and transitions and your good to go!

I love to see one, I could help with video editing, but I am maxed out for this week and maybe the next week as well cause I am doing a couple videos including a dota video as well. (A little more comical though, since I am the second worst Dota player in the world)

FallenElf and I recorded a guide to jungle Lycan based on a few of my Lycan replays. I then converted the replays into video files spliced them and the audio together and viola! 1st draft of DotaNoobs guide to jungle Lycan after 6.75 is done!

It's still being converted and uploaded, but you'll be able to download the preview at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/18652/lycan_jungle_high_quality.mp4 in a few hours

I watched the low quality version, and I think there is a lot of potential. The first thing that I would change is the Dota Noobs splash screen. It is the current but soon to be outdated logo, and there is no other text (for example a title). Something like "Jungling Lycan Post 6.75: Radiant" for the first bit, and then "Dire" for the second splash screen could be helpful. Maybe on the last splash screen a few bullet points:

- Hero needs to tank more
- More susceptible to ganks
- Keep an eye on the mini-map
- Suicide is ok early
etc.

The last point is that I think the audio needs to be recorded again. I don't know what time this was done, but Gambit's levels were a little low and there were a few times that someone blew into the microphone. Is it possible to record the two voices into separate channels in Audacity? That would make it easier to remove any extra noise (coughing, blowing on mic, etc) from one channel while the other is talking. Really good stuff, though!

EDIT: Looks like I was critiquing an earlier version of the video. I'll give this one a go and comment later.

All awesome points. We did record separately, I went through tonight and basically just combined and synced the audio. You're absolutely right, the audio needs more work, I only spent about 20 min on it. What does everyone think of the format/content? This was basically a test video.

I really like what you are trying to do, however i feel it should be real games that you are doing the guides of. Otherwise is very clinical and kinda like a lab enviroment and doesnt really take the rest of the game into account. Keep it up! Enjoyed watching it!

I really enjoyed the format and the content. I learned so much! For how quickly it was done I'm very impressed. We'll get together and work out the best way to do the audio and then get an updated starting graphic once the contest if over. Very impressive guys!

We can replace the logo with the winner of the logo contest once that is finished. I would focus on making more content since you quickly add the winning logo easily after the fact. So I would focus on getting a few more video sessions together with corrected audio. That will put us in a good place to slap the correct logo on it and ship once that's been worked out. Having everything branded with the same logo is pretty important IMO.

I'll get right on that if UnoPolak or FallenElf is up for it. We could use some ideas for subjects though. Here are some my thoghts:

Support Player Mentality
Jungling Ursa
Farm, Push or Gank: An introduction to strategy and team composition.
Fun Lane Combos: Sven + Lina

People have asked me about positioning and initiation/initiators and the suicide lane, so those could be decent topics.
