My assumption, and from what I've heard, it will be wiped. While the data will be kept for internal use, it should be cleaned off when the game goes live, simply for the fact that this is a beta, and things that work in here might not be working as intended and people could use known bugs to boost their score. While this could still happen outside of beta, the chances of it would be less so.

So I had a nice post here, then I screwed up copy pasta.
TL;DR: Should we have a place to have people with extra keys they don't want to give them away so we can grow our numbers. *Edit: I'm a moron* |

I was kicking around the idea after seeing Purge and a few other high level players do this, of offering coaching to our newer players.* I know Valve is offering a Mentor program eventually but for the time being this could help. The idea I had was we could have a spot on the forums for mentors/students to sign up, and we could have like time-slots where mentors would be available to help people who are new for learning a hero, item builds, positioning, etc. I've noticed that quite a few people who are showing up are like completely new to the game so having some observed coaching could help. Just an idea though, thoughts?

OH HEY GUIEZ. Finally got around to posting stuff on the forums so hi, hello, good to meet you, all that jazz.
So short history: Started playing the DotA's about 5-6 years ago. Played it off and on, I remember the old 32bajillion spell invoker (you think invokers op today, you have no idea) and Batrider when they came out. Played online occasionally, met some good people through it. League of Legends beta happened, switched over to that, played League for quite some time. Also got HoN when it was in beta/released, played it occasionally for that updated Dota fix. I enjoyed League and had fun with it, but every time they released a new hero with some borrowed abilities from DotA it made me miss this game even more. Fast forward to the internationals last summer. Watched the entire thing, made me miss DotA even more, signed up for beta, a few months later finally get a key, badabing badaboom, here I am. About 1-2 weeks after getting my key, I discover the wonderful reddit noobs channel during the great 29 hour blackout of DotA 2 over valentines day, which gave me the opportunity to meet a lot of the people who I now socialize with daily outside of the game itself and really kind of get to know people which was really nice. Playing with this channel/group gave me the chance to relearn the old mechanics, heroes, and items in a friendly rage free environment and really allowed me to become a better player. So yea here I am, love me or hate me ![]() |

That should work, just a signup for coaches with like their normal available times or something like that could work. What do you think?

Side note Alv, would it be possible to have a stream/tournament viewing channel in the mumble? Often times people will be watching a stream of some tournament and there really isn't a place for us that isn't invading another channel

Well I was thinking it could be more of a casual thing, like here are the people who are available and such and such time, contact them if you'd like tutoring and see if they are available instead of on x day we do coaching for y hours, or something.

Oh wow, a real life pro on our boards? Hory crap Batman.
Steam:http://steamcommunity.com/id/captwalmart Age: 23 Location:US East Role: Carry Experience: Played Dota off and on for two years, switched over to League/HoN during their betas, quickly quit HoN, focused on League, played that for 3 years til now when I got my Dota 2 key. I'd say average/below average player skill. Yes skype and mic. I'm curious to see how this experiment of yours turns out at the very least, also to find who the mystery person behind the mask is. |

I need music most of the time to keep me focused oddly enough. If I don't have it on I tend to stress too much about little things and go on tilt. Interestingly enough I also listen to music every time I play in a MTG tournament for the same reason.
Oh and as for the doublelift list, I used to watch League streams quite a bit, I remember him giving it out at one point and thats how I discovered it. |

3 games? 3 whole games? Holy crap that's a tight list.
#1-Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 2(SNES) A game that pretty much defined my childhood. One of the RPG's that helped define the genre, and has aged very well but then again so did most SNES games. #2-Earthbound/Mother 2(SNES) One of the most interesting and unique RPG series I have ever experienced. The unique humor and flavor of the series has stood out in my mind for years and I have enjoyed the entire series. If you've never played it and enjoy RPG's I recommend you give it a go. #3-Final Fantasy Tactics(PSX) My favorite Final Fantasy in the series. One of the best tactical RPG's available for any console. My favorite features about the game was how they treated the class system, with the ability to mix and match your abilities you could create some really powerful units. I recently found a fan made patch to the game that fixes a lot of the bugs and re-balances the game. If you want to check it out go to insanedifficulty.com, they have quite a number of patches for a bunch of classic RPG's to ramp up the difficulty. |

I'm actually replaying it now, just finished up Chapter 1. Such a great game, side note I think I might of found another tactical game coming out that might be as good as tactics! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stoic/the-banner-saga?ref=category It looks promising.

Ogre Battle 64 is a very enjoyable game, my biggest problem with it is how you dont really get to control the battle. I do want to play the SNES version of it sometime though.

Yes a baker. Ok, jokes aside, majoring in a Computer Science degree, I also work at my local Barnes and Noble during summer/winter breaks. |
