Online final fantasy is like DotA in that I can't actually recommend people try it unless its "their thing." The first release was abysmal, but they've remade the game to be released sometime early next year. They closed servers today and destroyed the entire original world.

Just wanted to share a video that I was seriously impressed by.

I played the original FF mmo years back and loved it. I was sad that the 2010 release so I'm excited to see what they come up with now they've taken it back to the drawing board.

Not really, they've released some information and demos, but they're mostly close-lipped about it.

I don't think gamers are quite that driven by emotion. Gamers will play a game if its good, and I think this has plenty of potential.

I haven't truly enjoyed a Final Fantasy title (besides Tactics which is arguably the best game of all time) since IX. This makes me want to go play IX... I miss Vivi.

Go do it. I think they released some on PSN and if you have a PS3 you can get it easily. Other than that I'm sure you could emulate it. I did that a bit ago and sent it over to my TV, almost like the real thing.

I enjoyed playing FFIV: The After Years for a while. It was very much like visting old friends.

Umm, not really. Early 2013 is anyone's best guess. You can signup for the alpha/beta test, which will happen sooner. I think the alpha is underway. I can't get the link at work though.

Hah I still have a working PS1 and PS2, and have Final Fantasy 1 [origins] to 10 and anything released in between.

Although I might load IX on the PSP like I did with Tactics, easier to play in bed that way haha. I don't own a new-gen console I just bought a few controllers for the PC.
