So I get the point of tri-lanes. I understand a bit of whats supposed to happen, but thats typically far from what actually happens in our games. They're good at getting first blood, or deny some XP for the first few minutes. After that they seem to break down with people just standing there behind the the hero trying to farm.

I want to practice the tri-lane beyond the first couple minutes. I figure this is the place to set it up.

Who's down to setup a time to practice/talk about the doing a successful tri-lane?

I would like to be there for this as well. I've seen them run plenty of times in pro games but have only been involved in one once and I really wasn't sure what I should be doing as the support beyond pulling and stacking creeps or babysitting the carry. This will probably also kill 2 birds with one stone since I think pulling neutral creeps is an integral part of this and I have a few questions about doing that more successfully.

Pulling neutrals is very integral. We'll set up a group to go over tri-lane comp and how to successfully run one. Look for a post here over the next day or so.

I think it would be good to practice this aspect of the game.

I've found this map to be helpful to know how/where/when to pull the wave.

This was also helpful with some of the trilane tips:

Something like a tri-lane drill we could do would be helpful to practice. I was thinking it would only require 4 people - one to lane against - and whoever reaches level 6 first would win the challenge. Thoughts?

Well getting to level 6 isn't the goal of a tri-lane. Exp is great, but securing gold and completely denying it to other team is much more important. Getting kills is also extremely essential.

There's also the "tri-lane" with a dual lane+jungler like Chen or Enchantress.

I'll talk to Gambit and Shane and see what they think the best way to go over tri-laning would be. I also think it's important to both work on tri-laning as well as laning against a tri-lane. I'll talk with them tonight and see if we can't get a group going sometime this week.

I think a good challenge would be setting CS goals for the carry, deny goals for the supports, and not dying for the other team.

That work?

Yeah that sounds awesome. I just want some basic goals for people to be working towards. I'll be on teamspeak later today so I'll be talking with you guys about how to set this all up.

In my opinion what you have decide prior to playing a tri is wether you want to run a offensive or deffensive tri-lane. Based on the heroes you play (mostly the carry decides it) and the lineup you are against you can see what suits the situation best.

In general a offensive tri-lane wants to deny the enemy as much gold/xp as possible while killing them over and over again and getting an early tower (around 9min is fine). Then you want to break up your lane (let the carry farm safe (he should be ahead of the enemy) and your supports go to gank other lanes and try to further increase your lead from the early game and transit into the midgame.

A defensive tri-lane rather opts for maximizing your hardcarries farm. This concept is imo harder to play as both supports will fall behind in lvl and gear. Carrying tps and playing safe is ultra neccessary. Constant warding is a must. Whenever there is a possibility to punish the enemy go for it but DONT ( and i mean DONT) ever risk anything as you goal is to keep your carry freefarming so he can stomp the mid/lategame.

Those are my few cents. hope it helps
