Hello all

Im steve, from Australia and relatively new to Dota.

I think i have about 60 games under my belt, only just starting to get into it properly. Actually starting to read some guides and watch some Dota 101 videos and have some form of idea what is expected of me haha.

I usually team up with a friend of mine in public games but always looking for friendly people to play with

At the moment im experimenting with characters, mainly trying to learn carry and support so i have been looking to find a couple of characters i enjoy from both roles and learn how to play them better (Played razor the other night and did alright as carry but have been hopeless with carries prior to that). Whilst im trying to learn these 2 roles better i think my play style is most suited to iniator/nuker but im trying to be more versatile

I look forward to becoming more acquainted with these boards and the people on them

So ive downloaded TS3 but im having issues.

When i ran the .exe file not alot seemed to happen, a pop up window opened with some unchangeable log on info and now i have a TS3 logo in my taskbar but if i right click it my only options are "about" and "wanIP". Any idea what im doing wrong?

Im keen to be involved, if timing allows it. Im pretty new, i have about 30 wins and approx 35 losses. Alot of my time though has been spent playing people a fair bit higher level than me as i usually team up with a couple of my mates who have been playing alot longer.

Look forward to hearing more info and hopefully being involved

Can i just confirm that EST is UTC -5?? If this is the case then 7pm EST puts me around 11am Sunday so that should be perfect for me

I have been through guides etc and think i have an ok idea of some of the things that need to be done, that being said i dont remember the last time i played anywhere near as bad as i did on the weekend. I played terribly and was completely out played by their two guys down in the bottom lane. Live and learn though hey.

I think maybe having a captain for the team would be beneficial, someone that can lead a strategy discussion and try to steer game in whatever direction it needs as you move through the different phases of the game.

Also they may not have had players with 100+ wins but i know there was at least 2 players that were level 10 in the first game, dont know about the other guys but i was level 4 so they still had a decent amount more playing experience.

I think with a bit more organisation though could be good

Im unfortunately unable to join you guys mid week as ill be at work.

As for everyone being more comfortable with supports, thats not the case for me, i have been trying to vary which roles im playing so i can fit into groups playing a few different roles. Obviously i have plenty of work to do regardless of what role i end up in.

Biggest thing i need to work on is paying more attention to enemy teams hero pics and trying to pick a hero, regardless of what role that will work well against them, i really needed range in the lane i was in on the weekend. Being melee i was on the back foot from the word go as i couldnt get close enough to last hit properly and they were really good with their harrassing. Plus witch doctors stun was a bitch haha

I do actually play most of my matches in a higher bracket than my level suggests due to my friends being higher levels and they are who i normally play with. Still probably nowhere near where these guys are though.

I dont feel Saturday was a great judge of my ability, im by no means great but i am better than i did on Saturday, my problem is i seem to be a bit hit and miss at the moment, sometimes i feel i remember the things i need to be doing and i execute them well other times i feel i get overwhelmed and forget pretty much everything i should be doing haha

I do feel for me personally though i learn best if im playing with people who are talking/communicating well and can give me tips as i go along in a match. It is what my friend does and i feel i learn most when playing with him at the moment.

So i was feeling pretty crappy after my terrible display on the weekend lol.

Hadn't played again until last night, alot happier with how the two games went last night haha! Still have to pay more attention to my specific role sometimes but slowly learning.

Im enjoying Phantom Assassin at the moment, second game last night we made a nice come back and ended up winning still behind in kills

I like the idea of running through tactics/ideas pre game and then trying to implement.

I have really been trying to learn more hero's the past couple of weeks, so i can get a better understanding of what hero i can pick to compliment my team/hinder the other team. I have just been playing "all random", "random draft" and "single draft" with my friend and have really been enjoying finding new hero's i enjoy and just getting a better understanding of things in general

Look forward to getting more involved with the doobs games too
