I’m excited and proud to announce that on Saturday February 25th I’ll be doing a 24 hour Dota 2 marathon to raise money and awareness for the charity Child’s Play. I will be starting at 9am and streaming for a full 24 hours until Sunday at 9am. If you haven’t heard of Child’s Play it is an organization that sends gaming equipment to hospitals to help families or the sick to help ease their time in the hospital, for more information on their purpose you cna go to their web site http://childsplaycharity.org/.



Streaming for 24 hours what will that include?

Well first and foremost it will be me, Gizmoh, streaming Dota 2 game play with my webcam on. I’ll also be playing with my typical crew of friends but would love to play with fellow redditors or even a few prominent figures in the Dota 2 community if I can find any that are interested that is.

I’ve also thought of doing things like:
typical match making games
viewers choice on which hero I play
full matches with viewers
The Divine Courage (http://divinecourage.dy.fi/)
playing games with weird rules like: I can only go mid or bottom solo all game weird things like that
These are just test ideas but still some things to keep the stream entertaining and less of 24 hours of straight standard Dota 2. I’ll be commentating and interacting with people in chat the entire time.

Why did I Choose February 25th?
That is pretty simple, in my excitement to do this I originally chose the 18th but I saw that the actual pros of the community had decided to setup a small tournament raising money for the exact same charity. So huge props to them and I’ll be pushing their stuff around the same time to try and raise even more awareness.


Who am I and why should you care?
I am a typical gamer with the means to stream, you do not have to care about me or think I’m good, but I would love to help raise money for Child’s Play and this seems like a great way to do it.


What is my Goal?
My goal is to raise one thousand dollars for Child’s Play. The Dota 2 sub reddit alone has fifteen thousand subscribers, if one thousand of them donates $1 then the goal will be met. I thought about if I didn’t meet my goal, but really any amount donated will be more than if I didn’t do this. The idea is that anything can help even if it is just $1.


I’ll be using Chipin to facilitate the donations so the donations go directly to Child’s Play via paypal, unfortunately the only way you can donate is elctronically unles you use Child’s Play’s website http://childsplaycharity.org/.
