So I just played my first game as the Alchemist, and maybe I'm wrong, but he was super fun to play with. I ended the game with one of the best k/d/a ratios I've ever had! I was wondering what players use as a standard build for the two trolls?
I went with UC,Acid, Gold, Gold, UC, Ult, UC, UC, Gold, Acid, Ult, Acid, Gold, Acid, and so on. Ending items- Helm of Dominator, Sange & Yasha, radiance, power boots and a monkey king bar. I'm thinking the helm was a bad choice since his ult gets an insane regen boost and there's such a low cool down. My team used him as the main carry since I was able to farm like crazy and get a few early ganks with the UC. So question is, is this a semi normal build/usage? He seems pretty powerful, I just haven't seen him used that much. |

I guess I played him a little oddly. I waited until I saw who'd be against me center laning, and when I saw Juggaurant I went for UC to keep him from farming at all. I could see where Alch would be a good forester, especially early on with a Ring of Regen.
He seems pretty versatile considering his ult allows to be an awesome push/carry with almost no cool down. |

Yeah, I've played with him a few more times now and he's really a great hero (at least to me). I played a hard carry with him a couple of games ago and got his normal attack speed up to something ridiculous. Stunned and popped my ult, destroyed whomever i stunned pretty quickly. I think I had ganked/farmed up to a butterfly and an assault cuirass pretty quickly.

So I think it's great that we there's a standing day or 2 for Doob matches, but I was thinking, a good sub category might be a "Random" category. I see it functioning something like a quick post with a date and time in the title and then a quick message with the PW (something generic like "doobs" would be good for people who rarely check the forum.
"Looking to play a couple of games with some other Doobs tonight, around 8 PM EST. I'll create the lobby and the PW will be doobs. Let me know if you can make it!" I was thinking it might help getting us playing together a little more often and get some teams formed in a faster fashion. Thoughts? |

Hmm, what about a Radiant/Dire battle? Something like Kunka battling Tide Hunter, the opposites battling, maybe over a TP scroll with the DOTA2 symbol in the middle? Surrounded by a wave of creeps?

Posted by djlenny_3000 ya standard beta process is reset all data. but i better get a free character skin/ store item for all my hard work and strenuous hours of testing Hours of rigorous testing. My wrist is sore, my mouse battery dying, my eyes bloodshot, and my shirt stained forever with the traces of Mountain Dew and leftover Chinese food I can hardly remembering ordering, let alone leaving the chair that has become my bed. A skin would suffice. Or one of those fancy couriers. |

I'll be on 8PM EST on 3/30 for a couple of games! |

Actually, just a few creeps would be cool. Like (Radiant Creeps) -> [DotaNoobs] <- (Dire Creeps) ] It represents the two sides in conflict which is great and works well when we get the league/tournament stuff going. Also, the fact that its just creeps and not the heroes represents the "noob" side? The red and green aura from each side could swirl together in the middle as a backdrop for the DotaNoobs title? Yeah, that would look pretty awesome, having them crawling over some of their fallen allies might look cool too. These are the times I wish I had an artistic bone in my body that I could use for drawing or photoshop. |

Just reading this now, but I think it's an awesome idea. I'd also be willing to throw down some cash for a prize. It'll give me a reason to focus on my atrocious last hitting with some heroes.

Wow, sounds like fun:
Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/id/fallenelf86 Age: 25 Location: US East Role: Push/Support Experience: Not that much. Never play DotA or LoL before getting into the Beta. Got in about 2 months ago and have been playing a lot ever since. Played all the characters a few times to get familiar with their skills. Now mostly trying to get down last hit animations one character at a time. Best games have been with Leshrac and Shadow Shaman as pushers and support. Skype and mic here. |

Posted by PerfectAverage Counter-picking I feel is pretty advanced. In MOST games - good positioning, map awareness, and ability to last hit will often trump the abilties of a hero. From my experiences in LOL - this was true until you got to the higher levels of ELO. My experiences in Dota so far - make me think it's the same for this game. That said - I've noticed a few good "hard counter" heroes. These tend to be my go-to's when I see the following picked: Ursa: Beastmaster can shut his shit down. 4 second stun that goes through BKB. A hawk that can scout Rosh. Riki: Bounty Hunter can hard counter Riki with the truesight on his ult. I've had great luck as BH in every game where the other side insta-locks Riki. Huskar: When I play Necro - I've found that he works good to drop an aggressive Huskar from 1/2 health to 0 health with a well placed ult. Shadow Shaman is also another go-to for me as he can usually lock Huskar down long enough for the rest of the team to focus him down. Shadow Shaman is also a good counter for Anti Mage, with his shackle and hex. With a Scepter of Divinity he has 3 stuns on AM locking him out for about 9.5 seconds. I also like Leshrac as a Huskar counter. See a Husker, turn on ulti or Diabolic Edict (or both with a bloodstone), pop your stun on your self as Huskar jumps and sacrifices half of his health, then lightening. Dead Huskar. |

Posted by PerfectAverage On an unrelated Huskar note: Someone mentioned on reddit not to long ago about picking a Dazzle to team with Huskar: Shallow Grave on Huskar when he's at low health and watch him go beserk on people. I need to try this tonight. Who wants to play Huskar with me? ![]() This sounds like a scary combo. |

Fundraiser for a firm in DC. Kinda boring, but decent hours and nice benefits (I sound like an old man).

Posted by binaryatrocity Posted by PerfectAverage Posted by binaryatrocity I still haven't gotten around to playing this guy, but my buddy just got a Dota2 key so I want to introduce him to the game this weekend, and he goes "Well you just find me a big drunk Gragas to play" so I'm thinking Alchemist might be fun for him. The models for Pandaren Brewmaster are almost done. He's practically a Gragas clone. Only.... furry. ![]() That's awesome I can't wait to try him out. Heroes come out so fast and I'm so unfamiliar with them, I have yet to really try Lycan or Druid lol. I randomed Druid the other day and had no idea how to play him. I need to work on him. |

Posted by PerfectAverage Posted by fallenelf86 I randomed Druid the other day and had no idea how to play him. I need to work on him. Feel free to hit me up in the Dota Noobs channel if you want tips. I'm not bad with him at all. Here are a couple tips with Lone Druid: 1. Starting gear - Equip your bear: With a shield. GG branches for LD. 2. Work towards phase boots on the bear. Early venom orb is also not a bad idea. After you have t2 boots on the bear you can work towards treads on LD. After that nearly all of your items go on the bear where items that increase his damage are desirable: Radiance, AC, Desolator, Butterfly You don't really need to gear LD too much (boots and want are about it). However items that work on him are those that increase his Strength. Aside from BKB and Heart - I can't think of anything. 3. You will want to put levels in both your Q and E, maxing your W last. Rabid - while good, isn't as important as getting your bear more powerful. 4. LD works as a strong jungler or pusher. The way I play him is to jungle then by mid game I push towers all over the place. If you've done your job well - you should have radiance on your bear and doing omgwtfbbq in damage. 1v1 will be your game. This is all great advice. I'm going to need to play him a few more times to get the hang of him. Last time I put on shield on the bear and went straight for a radiance to help farm. After that I was kind of lost and we got wrecked. |
