Hello there, Kaero here. Coming in from Holland.

Stumbled upon this subreddit browsing through /r/Dota2, figured I would go sign up.

I got some decent LoL experience before my friend shoved a beta key towards me. Been playing Dota 2 and enjoying it immensely however I do feel like there is still alot to learn!

Ill be honest im not sure how it works over here, wether I should just drop in on mumble or if there is a channel in the game. Either way looking forward to having fun and a general good time

Feel free to ask for more info if curious, ill be happy to answer what I can!

Apoligies for my English, it's lacking

Tuesdays are kinda bad for me, but it's whatever works for the most of us, I could probably be there half the time. Thursdays would be awesome

One of our newest members Kaero was from Holland! Lol. If we can get one or more people involved who want to run a separate set of games for the EU scene that would be awesome, and it would be great to accommodate people in other time-zones.

Seriously if no one steps up to the plate I can be around for a day to do EU games, what would that be like 6:00AM CST? I don't even know.

Not entirely sure what CST is compared to GMT (Im actually GMT+1, 3:19AM at time of posting this) but I don't mind putting a bit of time in to host EU even if only spectating. Just fill me in on what I should be doing and when.

why are people in hon for only like 3 months but is in lol forever? i still dont understand the reason why. I know the community is pretty bad but it shouldnt discourage you from playing.

I tried HoN a few times but I never really adjusted to it, the graphics style hurt my eyes and the people sure didn't help. League wasnt all that much better artstyle wise but I guess I just liked ease of play for a while.

Hehe, I guess anyone that uses reddit and gets into a new game automatically searches for a subreddit for that specific game. Generally a helpfull bunch! (Outside of the trolls but hey online)

Dubstep for me it has to be liquid dubstep, the other "versions" just dont do it for me all that much with a few exceptions.
Also thanks Binary, I forgot all about Godsmack

DotA Basic Theory and Techniques

How to earn Gold?
Gold is the primary resource in DotA, you need it throughout the game to purchase stronger and better items as the game progresses and buyback your life should you need too. There for its handy to understand what gold is, and how you can obtain it.

Passive Gold Gain
Every hero on the map gains 0.8 gold every second, or 5 gold every 4 seconds. This is a fixed amount for everyone.

Reliable and Unreliable Gold
I figured I would explain what these terms mean before going into it more. These terms are more for the advanced players however its good to keep in mind what it means for you.

Gold can be split into two categories:

-Reliable gold - Any bounty you get from hero kills is added to your reliable gold pool.
-Unreliable gold - Everything else (Towers, Roshan, Creepscore)

The difference between the two (except from how each is earned) is how each one is spent:

-Dying can only take away gold from your unreliable gold pool and not from your reliable gold.
-Buying items uses up your unreliable gold first before using your reliable gold.
-Buyback uses reliable gold first.

Last Hits
Last hitting is one of the most important skill to master in DotA, because it will be a large portion of your gold through out the game. Last hitting literally means getting the killing blow on creeps, towers and heroes. Doing so will grant you the bounty on said creep wich will be added to your unreliable gold with the exception of hero kills.

Towers
Towers will provide your entire team with gold if destroyed, and they also have a bounty on it. If you last hit the tower you will obtain a large portion of this bounty, however if you let your creeps destroy it it will split the bounty evenly among your team. Use your judgement wether to last hit or not.

Items and Skills
There are 3 skills and 1 item that provide extra gold for you.

-Hand of Midas- Will provide a static 190 reliable gold bounty whenever used on a creep.
-Doombringer Devour- Will consume a creep and digest it, providing 40/60/80/100 unreliable gold.
-Alchemist Goblin Greed- Grants 2/4/6/8 +2 per creep kill in the last 20 seconds, this is capped at 26 extra gold per kill
-Bounty Hunter Track- Grants 150/200/250 gold per kill, or 50/100/150 to allies. (This only applies to enemy heroes)

=Edit: All I remember so far, feel free to edit or comment if I made mistakes anywhere, did have the wiki up to help so I at least got correct info=

Im seeing NADL, would this exclude non-americans then? Just out of curiousity. Because it definitely sounds interesting, and a hell of a experience.

I'd give it a go, but I might not be what you are looking for. Had close to no experience before DotA2 other then a few games of HoN and League, and nothing competitive at that

Either way never hurts to try.

Steam: Kaero Profile
Age: 21
Role: Carry/Support
Experience: About a month of DotA 2, that's really it if you don't count League and HoN.

Ill go hang my head in shame now for not playing this game a whole lot back in the days. The community prevented me from enjoying it.

Top 3 favorites eh? Ive played so many games that it's hard to pick in all honesty.

1) Final Fantasy 6 (Or 3 wichever you prefer): Out of all the FF's I played this was by far my favorite and I still catch myself hooking up the SNES to replay this gem. The story was great but most of all I liked how every single character had something completely unique about them that no other char had. It made setting up your party for specific fights a fun activity.

2) Wing Commander series ( III: Heart of the Tiger being my fav in those ): I am a absolute sucker for space flying games, and these were one of the first games I played. Not a whole lot to say about it, its back from the DOS era. Its a love or hate series and I happened to love it. I am still sad that there are virtually no good space fighters anymore. (With the exception of Freelancer, that game was awesome)

3) Castlevania (NES): Need I even explain this one? Difficult, frustrating and trial and error. Yet enough pull to keep you going till you beat it. If you never tried it I say you should

Honorable Mention: Street Fighter 2,3,4 - Played the crap out of these in my youth and am still playing the 4th iteration. Awesome fighting game and can give you a good feel of accomplishment learning those difficult links and beating out top players.

Also, Command and Conquer series Pre-RA3

FF7 was great, but it just hasnt aged as well as the other PSX games. My favorite would probally still be 6 and 10 though.

Also on WoW, Pre-TBC for me. I miss the classic 40-mans.
