new to dota2 and mobas in general. really enjoy the game, have played a little over 100 matches... progressing well i think in my own skill.

this had to have been related to a TS server reboot or something... theres always at least 5 people in the AFK channel and the final fantasy dudes are basically online 24/7... i think they have lost their jobs at this point.

So apparently Barackness lives about 10 miles from where I live in Raleigh, NC... also he mentioned that his 21st birthday is coming up next month or november... I can't remember.

What do I do for this? Do I just take him out and get him ultra shitty at the bar and snort some coke off a hookers ass or what? I feel like I must do something to initiate him into the world of drinking and adulthood.

I don't think he visits the boards much, so let me get some suggestions on how to get this youngin' shitty.

welcome to the club dude. most of us are on daily, the euros have the TS under their power til about 7 or 8 and then us US folks come on and stay on late. mostly everyone is done by midnight USEastern but a rare few of us play into the night.

im online fairly often in both steam and teamspeak... just message me in either and we can set something up.

Posting here to shame binary on his gloating that apparently everyone missed.

There really is a big change as you progress in DOTA from "these are my favorite heroes" to "this is my favorite role".

When you start out you kind of have to stick to certain heroes to get a sense of consistency in a game in which every match is completely different from the last.

I'm at the point after playing for over a year that I finally feel comfortable with all the heroes in the game, excluding a few (meepo, invoker) simply because they are the type of hero you need to dedicate some time to nailing down and even then, they are a bit tricky.

Once you have a good solid base on almost every hero, you tend to learn which ones you really excel and using to your advantage. Everyone is better at different things in the game, and some heroes lend themselves to that specialty more than others.

That said, some of my personal favs are Earthshaker, Witch Doctor, and Phantom Assassin... so thats all over the board.

Sidenote: Bandit is an epic support and the best person to learn to play support from in Doobs, if you can get some of her time, pick her brain and pick up some pointers.
