Your attention por favor!

So far, we have decided on Saturday, March 2nd at 7pm EST. All those that can attend are:

Skyop
Koppen
00steve (btw are those zeros or "O's" in your name? I can't tell.)
Migglypuff
lemonstre1357 (filling in for zap this week)

If anyone else wants to hop in, you can see if no one is a no show and you might be able to hop in really quickly. Make sure you have team speak because it is awesome and be ready to play your best game the best way you can. See you all on Saturday. If you have any questions, please feel free to pm me or post right here on the thread. Thanks for your time.

It would be helpful if everyone participating put a link to their steam profile for ease of communication and organization on Saturday.

If it is a public MM (which it should be) then you can just give us the match ID.

Ok, so that was interesting. A recap for those not involved:

We got stomped twice. We may have (probably) played against teams way out of our skill range. Not much was learned as we were probably too busy getting our faces melted.

So here's what I think we can improve:

Form a team of only new players (sorry lemon. We do really appreciate you subbing in though, and you did give us helpful advice).
Communication; despite us being on ts3, we didn't really talk much.
Determine roles before we start; as new players, we feel comfortable as supports. But not all of us can be supports.
Play against bots. Yeah.

You guys should still send Uno and I the replay. It'd be worth us at least going over.

Migglypuff: Yes I realize that I have more experience than the rest of the players and that's why I'm only a sub not a regular participant

It was all free thought on hero selection (little to no strategy)

We came to the realization that pubs weren't the place to start with a new player group, probably will be boting next time around

Also the teams weren't stacked with more experienced players I checked both games and if I recall correctly I was the only player above 100 wins except for maybe Sauce in our second game

I do want to make a suggestion: A group of 4 new players (sub 100 wins) with one seasoned player that play a game or two against bots. Its kinda where it seems to be heading anyways, but I'm just putting it out there now. Pubs do not seem to be the best place for a learning environment. Winning vs Losing seems to take over instead of learning the game.

Thoughts:

I think a group of 5 players with low/no experience in a pub is a bad idea. Once we end up going behind, (which will probably occur if we lose out during laning), without real communication or a strong player leading the charge, we'll be steam rolled after with no return + nothing will really be learned in the process.

Maybe playing bots is a solution, but I think it'll still be a situation of blind leading the blind.

Other than playing pubs/bots, I think some of us would really benefit from watching some videos online/reading some guides. I'm not sure how its like for the rest, but personally, I've done that and am aware of some of these basics and try my best to put it in practice. But typically end up forgetting about them when in-game/under higher stress situations. So I'm not sure what its like for the rest of us - either they are not aware of the basics or are like me, forgetting them due to stress.

I totally agree with the lack of communication part. After being outlaned, we definitely could have put up a better fight with better communication.

Also agreeing with the lack of thought/strategy going into hero selection.

We probably need to put some thought into how to organize this here on out. So far, most of my best learning in-game has been with an experienced player who's competent enough to play his own game and friendly/bothered to correct my mistakes along the way. Not sure if our current set-up (5 new players) is the best way to go. We'll see.

Thanks Skyop for organizing.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. Its sorta like exams, I tend to just panic and forget things in the thick of it.

I also forgot to thank Skyop. Thanks! Regardless I still had fun.
