So being new to gaming in general, I decided to give the never-played-by-me Pokemon series a try. So I downloaded Virtual Boy Advance and the Pokemon Red ROM (Thanks Wikipedia for ordering the games). Pretty fun game. I will say that. I am horrible. Anyone else play and can give me some tips?

These are the sites I've used. Marriland is really good for walkthroughs (he does video commentary, funny guy). Bulbapedia is like a general wiki for pokemon related stuff. Serebii is pretty much a big pokedex. I'm surprised there are living people that haven't played Pokemon haha. Best game in the series in my opinion is yellow but they're all pretty fun. Catch any pokemon you want, it doesn't matter too much what you have in your party unless you want to play competitively. Hope this helps =)

Pokemon is amazing. The main things you should know. Dont ever run from fights, you need as much exp as possible. Train every pokemon to the same levels, dont make one amazing and the others poop. Finally, save your Rare candys for when you need them.

So I heard at school that pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen are remakes of Red and Blue. If that is the case, should I switch over to like the new ones. I have only about 2 hours into red.

Really it wouldn't hurt considering they are remakes after 2 more generations. That said the shitty graphics and memories is just too much nostalgia for me to say that they are suitable replacements.

Good point. The sound though gets me sometimes.

Yeah unless if you really like the retro style of the original red keep with it. Otherwise just jump onto FireRed or LeafGreen.

You should consider hopping on Yellow Edition, it has all the PokeMon where Red+Blue you need both cartridges to "Catch 'Em All", plus the adorable Pikachu follows you around all day!
