So this guy is one of my favorite heroes that I really don't play that much. I think the main reason is bc I can't figure out what role he can play on the team where he isn't overshadowed by heroes who just do his job better than him. Only thing i see hes good for is making/farming ancient stacks. Am I missing something here or is Rexxar just a lost hero?

Oh man, Beastmaster is one of my favorite heroes. He needs very little farm to be extremely useful. He truly is a utility hero and there are a lot of different ways you can build him. Here are the two builds I like to do:

Solo-Mid:
Here I max axes and get one point in Call of the Wild (positioning my hawk near a run) then get a few points in Inner Beast. Once I hit 6, my ulti should almost always be on cooldown. Roar's range is absolutely ridiculous. Gank like crazy. If I'm mid I like to grab bottle, arcanes, wand. From there I see what my team needs.

Offlane:
Axes and Call of the Wild maxed. Stacking ancients and grabbing a Soul Ring recipe before I leave base. Don't grab anything else for the Soul Ring, the Mask and Ring can be bought at the side shop. Anyone who tells you different, they're wrong. Stack ancients with your Boar and Axes. Sometimes I go Tranquils and sometimes I go Arcanes. Generally, I end up grabbing a mek as well. In the offlane, you should be completely safe, farm when the wave is pushed a lot, stack and farm ancients when it's not. The ancient stack will offset you not being in lane.

BM is a utility hero. You can build a ton of items on him. Personally, I like tanking up and building Necrobooks. I usually end up going Boots (Arcanes if I don't get a Soul Ring, Treads or BoTs if I do), Wand, Vlads, Necrobook, Aghs. I've also grabbed Vanguard, Mek, Pipe, etc. BM benefits from most items that give him some tankability.

His Aura is fantastic and you should almost never be caught out with your hawk scouting. Need a permanent Rosh ward, guess what, you have a free ward. Need to de-ward? Grab a gem and let your pets get rid of the enemy's pesky wards. A good BM always has a TP scroll on them (like many heroes) and is ready to TP in with a Roar at anytime. I had a great BM game a month or so ago. I'll see if I can find it.

I always hear that he is supposed to be awesome at stackign the ancients, but how does the do that? Is there a particular technique?

Yes there are 2 ways to do it, pre-Soul Ring and post Soul Ring. You should always max your Axes first. Your axes do physical damage, so they do damage to the ancients. Basically, before I get a soul ring, I stack on my own, or using axes from near the tower (dire side). Once I get my boar up, I use my boar to stack, and once I get 3-4 stacks going I use axes+soul ring to clear them for the xp. BM is really hard to kill in the offlane since he doesn't actually need to be in lane a ton to get the xp and gold he needs.

Here's a really rough map showing how it's done. The red lines are the path of the Axes. The two green dots are where you should position your boar to stacking. Happy to show you how to do it one night in a bot game if you're interested.

Lol, hopefully it made sense. Like I said, happy to go over it with you one night. He's one of my favorite heroes to play because of his versatility.
