He's finally in the game, and boy does he seem powerful.

It seems to me he's a natural choice for mid, since he reminds me a lot of other glass canon mids like Outworld (I love OD, btw). Though I wonder if you could play him in a trilane, since he has the spell amp with the slow.

Any thoughts on him, guys?

A Trilane isn't really best for him. Shadow Demon is has similar abilities, but he is better. SD has an amp that applies for all damage while skyrath has his amp for just magic as well as its a lower percentage although its a lot easier to land because of the nature of SD's amp. Also without a stun, a support in a trilane is kind of weak. Putting him in a situation where he can get fast levels and farm will be best.

I haven't played him yet, but looking at his abilities, I could see him doing decently in a trilane as well as decently mid. I don't think he could ever be a core trilane hero, but coupling him with Lina would probably go well with the magic amplification damage.

Mid lane offers the quick levels and farm which will help him out, but I think other heroes would benefit more from the mid lane. He doesn't really have an AoE control spell, just good burst.

He seems like a strong dual lane support. With somebody like Lina he would be a trilane possibility, but he would probably still be situational. His mid capability would be comparable to something a like warlock. The fast levels and farm are nice, but at the end of the day you still would fill that support role.

I'd compare him more to a Pugna or Lina mid. Decent burst, good ulti with low cool down, etc.

Well I wasn't really talking about skills I was just throwing out a support that could mid . I guess Lina, Lion, and Pugna could all be more comparable skillwise especially Pugna because of decrep.

Well if you want to throw out numbers be prepared for full blown math:

Mana cost for his max level ult is 800, max level pugna ward deals 1.75x damage of the mana cost of a spell.
Before magic resist it would be 1400 damage after the regular 25% magic resist (no outside magic resistance such as null field or Pipe) it does 1050 damage. Now if he was decrepified it would deal 15% amped damage (again assuming no outside magic resist) which would be 1610 damage.

I like running him as a solo or in a farming dual lane as the core hero on that lane. Hes a really snow bally hero who relies on a lot of set up and staying ahead for his spells to be that much more potent and scale that much more. Not to mention hes practically paper so you really gotta protect him hard. The problem with him going mid is his lack of a hard stun or a true escape mechanism makes him pretty easy to gank or outright kill with a little bit of burst

After playing him a bit, he definitely reminds me a lot of OD. Though I find him a bit harder to play, since he doesn't have OD's infinite mana pool, or his sheer control over fights. Though I think if you can stay on the outskirts during team fights, he can do a lot of damage.

His biggest problems are he has no stun and his ult requires him to skill shot in a way because you want to have as little heroes in it as possible.

I agree, I think his kit needs a lot of work. My new favorite game is just to pick Nyx every time the other team insta locks him, he's paper.

Nyx may get more kills, but pugna just trolls all over him

Oddly eniugh it seems, i love skywrath mage and overconfident counterpicks amuse me a lot. You can't do much against sky when he has sweet items, except bkb.

His skillset is a lot of fun when you get forcestaff sheep/orchid and rod of atos, not boring at all personally.

I think we've established that, Nyx is just a much better pick in general compared to Pugna.
